Journalist Glenn Greenwald appeared on MSNBC today to keep making his argument that more skepticism is needed in the discussion about Russian hackinga skepticism that he doesnt think Democrats are responding to that well.
He told Ari Melber that all we have so far on Russian hacking is circumstantial evidence from intelligence agencies who have not been hesitant to spread disinformation before.
Greenwald said all the talk of Russia before the election was just a political tactic, because fear is a really potent weapon.
As he indicated on Fox News earlier this week, Greenwald isnt completely dismissing the idea that Russia was involved in hacking, hes just asking for evidence to back that claim up.

(55,894 posts)he was linked to the mighty Greenwald... except his partner was carrying stolen, classified material.
Then he lied about his partner being held for hours without access to council... except his partner WAS offered a lawyer but he preferred to wait until his own personal lawyer eventually showed up.
Then there's the whole thing with Snowden- the libertarian, gun-loving, leak-hating Snowden all the sudden decides to leak and then goes the Russian embassy in Hong Kong and ends up in Russia.

(53,061 posts)a) Greenwald has never identified himself as a journalist nor acted like one? He is (regardless of your opinion of what he says) is a columnist who offers opinions on news rather than reports news.
b) G Gordon Liddy also received similar awards for defending the first amendment ( he advised shooting Federal law enforcement officers in the throat as the rest of the body is covered with armor) which was especially ironic because he had seriously looked at murdering Jack Anderson when working for the Whitehouse.
c) We don't like his gibberish because it runs against known intelligence findings, attempts to prop up his co-conspirator Snowden and supports the assertion of the maniacal President elect.

(10,412 posts)Greenwald; Democrats Need to Stop Calling Everybody a Putin Stooge. "EVERYBODY? Meaning him.
So what would be the better description of Trump? They share the same characteristics. Only supposedly the American won an election fairly and squarely. They each punish adversaries, beat the press, are white supremacist misogynists, condemn all Muslims, grab as much wealth for themselves.....
STOP THE PRESSES!
Maddow pointed out last week that Putin is by far the wealthiest man in the world, though undeclared Trump knows that. He wants to be that. So he conned a nation in order to achieve his personal goal. And as EVERYONE knows, It's all about Trump.
So call Putin his role model if you like, Putin has different goals. And Trump is the stooge who can help him achieve them.

(17,146 posts)I haven't seen evidence to indicate the hacking actually worked. You can make a case for any number of things that cost her the election, much of them errors in where to allocate time and resources during the campaign, or voter supression in several states, which I actually think may be way more important. The very first national election following the gutting of the Voting Rights Act and it is no coincidence that Democrats lost.

(6,537 posts)Or evolution deniers. Until they can absolutely, positively see proof in black and white they think it doesn't exist. I guess the President is a liar. Of course, they never ask if Greenwald's position on the Russian hack might be a smidge influenced by the fact that his buddy Snowden is being housed and fed by Moscow.

you don't believe we were hacked, voted in a rigged election....and millions were denied the right to vote on 50's type laws designed to suppress the vote of the poor in this country. That's a conspiracy theory too.....right?

(27,461 posts)..... isn't occupied by a Democrat. Oh wait, it is.
Yet we asked Mitch fucking McConnell pretty please if we could inform the American public our election was being hacked.
No? Okay, sorry to bother you, by your leave Mr. McConnell.

(82,383 posts)now they need evidence? Too funny. No evidence was needed to conclude that Hillary was a "criminal" etc. But evidence is needed when it is something they don't want to believe.

(3,847 posts)refuses to look at facts and intell briefings. What the hell is wrong with these people? Bush and Cheney refused to listen to intelligence and looky where that got us. The media refused to take the hacking seriously, despite all the evidence, they do not serve the public they way they were supposed to before Reagan.

(2,959 posts)the Russian Hack stories are bogus. More skepticism with our government is always a good plan but at some point a skeptic should come up with something more substantial that saying "I think..."
Since the Russian hack stories broke I've seen a number of reporters on various TV shows giving specific info on Moscow based date stamps, well known hackers etc. It wold be nice if the people who are trying to refute these stories provided some evidence to counter them. Some counter evidence should be available for people who are diligent enough.
BTW wining a prestigious award for a particular story does not mean that every story a journalist writes is a award winning.
