Perhaps the most worrisome thing will be the long term fallout of a Trump presidency.

Trump hasn't even taken office yet and liberals and progressives are very rightly worried. We have never seen a president like Trump. He is going to do great damage simply to benefit himself and his billionair friends. They are going to try to dismantle the whole New Deal social infastricture. The people he has put in power are truly scary.

However today's latest irresponsible announcement by Trump regarding expanding the nuclear arsenal, everyday it's something new, has reminded me that the worst fallout from a Trump presidency may be many years in the making. This isn't exactly surprising or new, in fact the fallout of most major geopolitical change is long ranging and takes years to play out. 9/11 and the subsequent mess in the middle East today, has its roots in the Soviet Afghan war of the 1980s. Similarly it took decades for Reagan's unprecedented deregulation to have it's full devestating effects on the middle class and the poor.

I suspect the that long after Trump is out of office and we are talking about him as an interesting footnote that the dominoes will still be falling. With what trump wants to do, I just hope the outcome doesn't take the form of a mushroom cloud. And as I'm arguing that could be years or decades in the future.
