But you left out the part on how most of the trade from China are products being made by companies like, Nike, Apple, etc. !

With a tariff in place those companies will raise their prices, which will affect American consumers, and the trade deficit between the US and China will remain huge!!!

You can't want cheap imports which steal US jobs, then whine about losing cheap imports. The ONLY way to bring back US jobs is to eliminate the incentives for bring in cheap imports by adding a tariff. I'd like to see corrective tariffs for ALL nations that don't share our costs of productions... from US wages and benefits, US worker protections, US pollution controls, US social programs like SS and Medicare...etc. THEN we can have "free trade".

an executive order can turn them back on.

Obama did it when China was dumping tires on the market and it stopped that behavior.

Tariffs are not all bad...our goods are subject to tariffs and VAT when we export to other nations.
