I'll move to Hawaii then

(9,436 posts)Wyoming has Warren AFB which has 150 nuclear missile silos.
Alaska has Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Fort Wainwright and Eileson AFB near Fairbanks.
Hawaii has Joint Base Hickam-Pearl Harbor plus a couple Army and Marine bases.
Those states would be among the first to be hit with nukes.

(16,093 posts)Hawaii is toast, because it's the HQ for both the Pacific Fleet and the US Army Pacific Command! Also, all of the main military bases are located on one single island! That means a low yield nuclear weapon will be more then enough to eradicate all military and civilian government!
The islands of Hawaii, Kauai, and Maui will be easily taken and all three have airports and harbors large enough to be used by enemy invader!
The bases in Alaska are spread farther apart, but could still be easily taken out...but using conventional weapons to take out Elmendorf-Richardson would be a better tactic, mainly because once again the large harbor facilities that Anchorage can provide!
Wyoming may have those silos, which means it's already a target the same as NORAD.
The truth is that all an enemy has to do is take out our infrastructure, shut down the power grids, take out certain bridges, and the panic will ensue!
One other thing we don't know, is how much information will General Flynn provide to his Russian friends, or how much he's already given them! Flynn does have a history of providing intelligence without proper authorization!!
Happy Holidays

(9,436 posts)harbors, rail yards, airports, critical industry such as refineries and manufacturing and finally cities.
I would say one of the first places also would be Colorado.
Colorado Springs is the home of NORAD.

(36,747 posts)Everyone east of the Mississippi River has about a maximum of 5 weeks to live after a sizeable nuclear exchange. The fallout from all the silos and facilities in the western states is the reason.
Best place to be was the Pacific Northwest and Northern CA.

(8,733 posts)Depends on payload delivery to Seattle and Portland but fallout is almost impossible to escape.
