"Andrew Jackson had a great history, and I think it's very rough when you take somebody off the bill," Trump said during a town hall interview on NBC's "Today" show.

I don't like seeing it. Yes, I think it's pure political correctness," he added.
"I would love to see another denomination. ... I think it would be more appropriate," Trump said, echoing the calls from his endorser Ben Carson to find another way to honor Tubman.

Of course, being Trump, he claims he thinks Tubman is "fantastic." Just don't let her shove Andy Jackson to the back of the $20 bill.

(15,380 posts)But he does it a LOT... he spews something generic about a subject just so it sounds like he has an informed opinion on it. I know it's too much to ask that we have a press that will hold his feet to the fire, but it's a fantasy of mine that in cases like this, a reporter would ask something like, "And could you tell our viewers what you admire so much about Andrew Jackson?" and then just shut up and stare at him expectantly. Let him fumble around for a while, and when he sums up whatever ignorance he's spewing, keep staring at him to force him to continue.
Also I can guarantee that most people know more about Tubman than anything significant about Jackson other than he was president. If I recall correctly, he was a rather nasty man with a temper and prone to violence... maybe Trump does know something about him. Sounds like the kind of guy he'd admire.
