(4,062 posts)work that way, Trump supporters should be cheering. They should work for less and be grateful.
The resulting cognitive dissonance is kind of cute to see when you tell them that though.

Dollars earned by "Mexicans and Indians" have the same value as dollars earned by anyone else.
If unions were strong, if minimum wages were living wages, if pensions were good, if labor laws were strictly enforced, and medical care universal, then immigration wouldn't be an issue.
The real problem is employers hiring classes of people that they can abuse. Immigrant workers, especially undocumented workers, are easily disposed of when they are no longer useful, or when they start demanding better working conditions. They can also be pitted against citizen workers. The message throughout low wage U.S.A. is don't complain, don't rock the boat, or bad things will happen to you. You don't want to be that homeless guy over there, do you?
I think that's another reason this nation treats the unemployed and unemployable so wretchedly. It's a way of instilling fear in those who suffer abusive working conditions.

(34,582 posts)to grant so many H1B visas so that companies can underpay workers to make more profit. We need to worry less about providing jobs for foreign workers when so many here are unemployed. And please don't tell me about the "official" unemployment rate which hasn't reflected reality since Bill Clinton was in office.
