Putin just got schooled by President Obama

The President took his actions, and Putin backed off and stood down. That is what leadership is all about. Sadly, we only have 3 more weeks to enjoy it.

1. Putin and Lavrov are playing "good cop, bad cop".

"We will not resort to irresponsible ‘kitchen’ diplomacy but will plan our further steps to restore Russian-US relations based on the policies of the Trump Administration," Putin said, noting that Russia "will not create any problems for US diplomats" and "will not expel anyone."

"Moreover, I invite all children of US diplomats accredited in Russia to the New Year and Christmas children’s parties in the Kremlin," he added.

2. Why would Putin do anything?

He only need wait 3 weeks until the change of management and things are reversed. The Russian diplomatic staff will be rebuilt quietly and without fanfare, the areas that were blocked from their usage will be open again after a short time to let the public be distracted by the latest Tweet Storm.

is a slap in the face to Obama. Kind of like saying, "meh, you're on your way out, completely irrelevant."
