I have no doubt bully-man and his team have already talked with Putin and the sanctions will be readily reversed late January 2017.

(7,963 posts)And you certainly won't hear me saying anything kind about him, either. He IS anti American.
What I said is that he can't do shit when there is bipartisan support for the sanctions. He can't do whatever the hell he wants by himself. That is not how our political system works. He needs republican support and he doesn't have it. Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are on board.

(3,554 posts)Think so... hate to say it, but I think if the "duck" becomes a clear and present danger to our nation and allies - then considering that the Intellegent Agencies are probably in agreement, then the branches of the military come to some agreement - we might see a coup. But, I think that there will be some back door communication to Congress to give them a chance act - prior to that event... but more in more, I think that after the "duck" signs all the shit bills that Ryan and Turtle want, then they will impeach him and make "Pence-God-hates-everything-not-white-and-straight' president. But, there is a probably a line that the Intelligent Agencies and Military will not allow to be crossed by the "duck".
My thoughts.

(5,493 posts)Trump takes office, and Putin continues to stroke Trump's ego. Then, Russia provokes the Ukrainian government to attack their soldiers. This leads to a full-scale invasion. Trump remains completely silent and does nothing.
Then, one-by-one, Putin performs regime change in Poland's neighbors. Finally, Poland is besieged and threatened. Russia won't invade Poland, but they'll try to destroy them from within.
Finally, they build strategic bases around the world to counter US bases. Russia now had strategic locations, and can destroy most US bases around the world. Governments who once supported the US and had military bases for US soldiers have their governments overthrown in favor of Russian influence.
Around the end of Trump's first term, Russia changes from ego-stroking and friendly to jingoistic and threatening. They begin an espionage campaign to destroy NATO, and begin to bully a significantly weakened US to get what they want. Trump has no choice but to appease Putin, who has now replaced the US as the world's super power.

(6,344 posts)We don't know, but your point is that there are some very scary things that could happen.
I would add that bullyman puts US at risk with all his businesses that will be targets, his mental instability he can't control, and being blackmailed. I have heard that mentioned many times that he could be blackmailed. Wow. What a mess!

(5,493 posts)Putin and Trump are currently both malevolent unknowns. What I mean is, you can kind of see what they're doing, and while it isn't obvious yet, it definitely isn't good.
Putin would do all if that if he could, imo. Without a forceful US counter-balance, it becomes very unpredictable.
