And same tomorrow.
My poor lil doggie can continue to sleep relaxed, and the kitties don't have to jump off the bed and run and hide.

(18,714 posts)Here in Nashvegas, there's just a drizzle of rain and the fireworks have been going off like Baghdad 2003 for the last five hours! Dogs are beside themselves.

(3,481 posts)my husband came out of the bedroom at midnight and said "Happy New Year." It was so quiet here, I didn't even know it had hit midnight yet.

(9 posts)How's the lake? I used to love coming up there to fish, boat and just spend time until the lake level there and elephant butte dropped so much. I preferred Caballo because it's so quiet.

(3,481 posts)The level seems about the same this year at Caballo but Elephant Bitte Lake is really low. We spend winter going back and forth between Elephant Butte Lake State Park and Caballo Lake S.P. in a motorhome. Ahh, yes, the quiet...that's why we stay here. Off season, both places are heaven.
Welcome to DU, btw!

(34,189 posts)Fortunately my cat doesn't care and the horses are used to explosions.A different neighbor had a firing range on part of his land bordering the farm and spent all day Friday practicing his shooting. Since that happens a few times every month, our horses are pretty much bomb proof.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
