Austan Goolsbees remarks regarding Obamacare repeal tonight on AC 360 (paraphrased):
As soon as the KGOP repeals it, changes it or replaces it they are going to OWN it.
Then increases in costs, currently at their lowest levels of increase in the last 50 years, are going to continue to rise and will likely rise even faster.
Any additional costs and other problems will be immediately felt by the voters and squarely laid at the KGOP doorstep.
It's easy to take it away but it will be hard to replace it and replacing it will be expensive.
In short, they are the proverbial dog that caught the bus.

(130,756 posts)heard today, on Chris Hayes' show w Melber, NOT so easy to 'repeal,' only parts done 'easily' are re: tax/$ (due to congress rules,) so will be messy and not smooth at all, piecemeal.

(24,324 posts)But, I doubt the KGOP will ever own the disaster that is coming in health care. They wuill blame it on OBAMACARE and Dems and the Dems will just crawl into a hole.. or have meetings, "We' are terrible at messaging...right-wing media be damned..
elleng
(130,756 posts)according to their statements on Rachel show tonight. They'll FORCE them to own it.

He certainly could be a real scrappy fighter,...
elleng
(130,756 posts)but he seems envigorated in the right direction now. The scrappy fighter part of Schumer is just what we need. Hear they attended the same Brooklyn high school?

I knew everything..batting stats, pitching stats, lineups..I was there when mantle hit the facade above the upper deck in right field. I even have his autograph on a ball.
I can still remember the smell of the REAL Yankee Stadium.
God I better stop.

(130,756 posts)I surely never got to Yankee Stadium, OR the Polo Grounds!

(130,756 posts)(maybe 2 games at Wrigley during the '70s,) and a few @ RFK for 'new' DC team, the NATIONALS, before their/our new stadium. But before Nats were 'invented,' did attend a few Orioles games in Baltimore! Like that stadium a lot. I'm kind of vertigo-ish these years, so will be cautious if I ever get to Nats Stadium with daughter (and grandson!)

(130,756 posts)People will KNOW they gained something from ACA that was taken by trump and repugs.
They've sort of got themselves between a rock and a hard place now. It was easier just bashing the ACA.
elleng
(130,756 posts)and whatever it is, it won't be good. Won't be a complete 'repeal,' surely not for years, so will hobble around, and they'll never (imo) get a replace. They're not smart enough to do the right thing: MEDICARE for all!

roamer65
(36,744 posts)They will destroy the American healthcare system, then try to blame it on Dems.
davsand
(13,421 posts)But they aren't gonna "repeal" it because they want to claim the stubborn Dems KEPT them from fixing it. Watch for them to change enough parts of it that it will be unworkable for normal human people. Cost will go up and when it is all one giant clusterf**k in a couple of years they are gonna stand out front and say it is the Dem's fault.
Mark my words!

(7,872 posts)investments and what modest property we may hold against the day when we may no longer be allowed to work.
When they cut Obamacare and Medicare my wife dies because we can't afford to continue the medicine. Then I die shortly thereafter from grief, or financial shock at the medical debts we accumulated, or from simple neglect because my spouse is gone and can't take care of me.
Meanwhile they collect the money every day, more and more every day, and they blame us as lazy and deadbeat because we cannot afford the most expensive and wasteful medical care on the planet.
The millions who perished in the Final Solution were tortured, terrorized, burned, gassed, starved, worked to death, and shot. It was the crime of that and any other century.
Today we have the luxury of paying through the nose for an infinitely slower death by a thousand cuts. Today's genocide is at the hands of those who see us as a crop to harvest and render down financially. They paid a very dear price to own Congress and the White House but it is a fraction of what they will recoup once they own the entire medical delivery system unfettered by regulation or restraint. The sins of Martin Shkreli will pale in comparison to the wholesale reaping of the American Citizen by the new powers that be.
