The New Yorker cover is powerful. Many of the recent ones have been real thoughtful, mind-grabbing.

That picture of the Americans crossing the Pettis bridge is also powerful. Thank god/humanity for these people and the ability of all of us to still post on the internet. I fear that ability will soon be abridged by the dark forces of the right-wing and the connected forces such as Putin's USSR.

I often wonder what MLK would think of how civil rights has progressed in this day and age. I don't think black Americans are equal to white Americans on many respects. Kind of sad that his dream may just be a dream.

25. Important and permanent change doesn't happen overnight

It takes much time for any change, especially progressive change to become permanent. If you look back on the 20th Century an overview will soon make us all realize it was the Century of the fight for equality from a quarters. The struggle continues.

MLK himself said he wouldn't be here with us to see it happen. As long as we continue to fight for all human rights I think he would be encouraged by our struggle against oppression.
