Not a knock to MLK in the slightest, but I feel like if MLK had never died (he'd be turning 88) we'd still be hearing about how he cheated on his wife, or hated white people, or whatever.
Not just from conservatives, but from the type of people to get all of their beliefs and information from their Facebook feeds. The type of people who hate Donald Trump, but then turn around and say that Bill Clinton is a rapist.
IDK. Maybe it's not true, and I'm not saying I'm glad he was shot. That's just how I pessimistically see the world. I think if he wasn't ever killed, he would have a controversial place in the world. At least now, 90% of Republicans feel the need to at least pretend to like MLK. Or maybe even use MLK as a weapon against current progressives, as in "You people hate America, unlike conservative hero Martin Luther King." Although I wouldn't be in any way shocked if Trump came out with an "MLK is overrated" tweet tomorrow.
I think it's gross how we treat the living compared to how we treat the dead.
