I'm watching for now without sound. Their shots of the mall are astounding. All wishful thinking and hyperbole aside, that's an embarrassing turnout.
Listening to Stephanie Miller this morning they're reporting that the cab drivers are telling them that damn near all their fares are for the march, not the ceremonies today.

(8,419 posts)Annoying as hell, sound off is likely the way to go. But the lack of crowds is mind boggling. Al Roker did the weather at what looked to be just off the mall (forget the street name - Constitution?) Anyway it was a crowd you would expect to see on any day. Then Katy Tur was actually on the mall trying to sell the "sea of Red Hats," people were far from packed in.

Pic 2 there was taking at 11:19am for Obama's first inauguration...temps were the 5th coldest ever for an inauguration.

(41,991 posts)They put flooring down on the grass. There's a LOT of empty there.
IndianaDave
(612 posts)and Secret Service presence required for such an event, the "crowd" is even smaller. Obviously, the Democrats are paying people $1,500 to $2,000 to stay away. That will probably be the excuse for the low turnout. What else could possibly explain this?

(24,766 posts)I thought about watching without sound, but this is better. And I appreciate the updates I'm getting here.
I will have alot of free time coming up. Will not be tuned in to this presidency. Will be making a photo album of my daughter's life, etc. I can continue to get all the info I need online. Need a degree of separation from this travesty.

It's cute. There are little cartoon puppies dressed up like firefighters and police officers.
