Do you support the mandate?

The SCOTUS will be releasing their decision on the mandate of the ACA.

I have seen many heated discussions here on DU on that very subject.

So, what is your opinion of the mandate.

I support the mandate and hope the SCOTUS upholds it.

I would prefer single payer but I accept the mandate and hope the SCOTUS upholds it.

ACA doesn't really depend on the mandate so it doesn't matter.
0 (0%)
I am against the mandate and the SCOTUS should declare it unconstitutional.
4 (36%)
I shouldn't have to pay for someone else's healthcare, get rid of ACA completely.

ACA is so flawed it needs to be trashed and start over.

The market place knows best and government should get out of the healthcare business.

make it even marginally effective.

Of course the only real solutions all involve ridding ourselves of the parasitic insurance industry.

From a narrow "this issue only" perspective I will never support any mandate that forces me to buy insurance from a private company, or threatens to fine me if I don't. I could support a mandate if all who were subject to it had a public option as a viable choice to buying from private insurers. I feel very strongly about this. What I actually support is universal coverage single payer health care.

I know though that there is a political dimension to all policy. Sometimes the big picture rightfully dwarfs the small picture. I do not want to see an all Republican controlled government elected in 2012. So, depending on the skill of the Democratic electoral team to score points with the public vis a vis the Court decision, I hope for whatever decision will help Democrats win the 2012 elections.
