I Will Leave You With A Prediction

I really only like talking politics regularly during elections so sticking around right now isnt very appealing. Ill get very annoyed very quickly if i have to talk about Trump every day, even if it is with you fine folks.

Here is what I think will happen over the next 18 months or so. I dont think we will decend into facist rule by tacky Don and his dumbass children. Hes too dumb, too lazy, and too unpopular. He has been in office for a few hours and the backlash is already overwhelming. He will probably never be more popular than he is right now and that is not a good way to start if you want to be a dictator.

No instead we will get a paralyzed, very corrupt government that barely functions beyond awarding tax cuts to rich fucks and less regulations on big oil. You will see a very isolated and impotent president (in more ways than 1) and congress plauged by laziness and infighting over completely tone deaf priorities.

Trump will spend most of his time bitching on twitter, making up shit as fewer and fewer people listen, and parading around like a princess, throwing out his title every chance he gets but overall dithering and refusing to work. Ryan and McConnell will have their hands full dealing with splintering factions that all want different yet pointless things that they can never get through congress and a democratic party that stonewalls them at every turn.

So my friends, no we arent a totalitarian dictatorship today and we wont be whenever trump is thrown out of office. Instead of are now in the era of extreme paralysis, where nothing useful to most people gets done in washington. Where the president and congressional leaders sit around with their thumbs up their butts and talk endlessly about what they are going to do instead of actually doing anything.

You probably wont experience The Great Terror or The Great Purge but instead The Great Frustration.

Welp, good luck all. As I said earlier, the best revenge is living well, so get out there and enjoy life while Trump slowly realizes that he is a powerless figurehead that is despised by the american people. Ill see you all in about a year when we start the process of kicking these klan members in washington to the curb.

Is if Dem leaders in Congress, the heads of the new DNC and the organizations who fund raise out of Dems and say they will fight for them, do so. This is the time to fight back and provide a resistance. We don’t need the namby, pamby, going along to get along Dems of the past.

I had this thought while driving home.

Why was the GOP brass so scared of Trump?
Pulling the hoods off? The fact that he's a joke and make them look as such? Was a ploy simply to create drama?

I think they worried that he could solidify a deep dark base that they have never had to address. One issue votes like abortion and guns who just had to thrown a bone to keep them on line. Now with one tweet or public utterance he can shift that base in districts and states away from the brass's choice candidate. They knew he'd sell. Nothing he wants to do should fly because keeping federal money flowing into Congressional districts (while bemoaning the Feds) is what keep people elected and the majority in place. If he keeps that dark base with him the rest of the GOP could actually have to follow their rhetoric to some degree and they know that doesn't work for them or in economic practice. That's what they were scared of in my opinion.

For the rest of the public he will fade. His act will get old fast as POTUS. I agree completely with you on that.

I had not thought of paralysis/frustration. I can see your scenario happening.

What we have now seems to be a train wreck. Watch the debt grow. You DO NOT cut revenue until you have costs under control.

Likewise, the corporations are not people. But, they need to pay up for the opportunity of making money in this country. OR, pay everyone in their employ a living wage. Just think what that would accomplish.

What bothers me is any program cuts affect all of these United States. Social Security, Medicare, etc. payments are made in urban and rural areas. What happens when you cut those programs, you cut economic activity in all these United States. Lets think of those moms and pops in the rural areas of Nebraska, Montana, North and South Dakota, Wyoming.

Well, this is DU, and the pitiful adolescent who's now the most powerful man on the planet will likely be on the receiving end of several daily diatribes here. Wish I could see the sunshine like you do, Dr. Jack, life would be a lot easier.

Unfortunately, my perspective differs. While Trump is merely a lazy, gumflapping puppet (far more disruptive than Shrub was on his worst day), the wolf-pack of ideologues who actually will be pulling the strings are the absolute dregs of the right wing. They are motivated and ready to charge hard while they control all wings of gov't. They will have no problem dismantling ACA, for starters, then putting (another) right-wing clown on the SCOTUS. It's not looking good.

You're right about Trump being dumb, lazy, and unpopular with the majority of the American people.

However, I believe that "a descent into fascist rule by tacky Don" is entirely possible.

Also, your "Ryan & McConnell will have their hands full dealing with splintering factions that all want different yet pointless things that they can never get through Congress and a Democratic party that stonewalls them at every turn" ..is just plain wrong!

The Republicans control both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

How could the Democrats "stonewall them at every turn?"
How could the Democrats stonewall them at ANY turn?

In the House, Speaker Eddie Munster will pass whatever bills Trump wants, and the House Dems won't be able to do squat about it.

In the Senate..same thing...The Turtle will eventually invoke the "nuclear option"..which will mean no filibusters for the Democrats, (except possibly for a SCOTUS nominee)

Lets face facts!

Hillary was on her way to a win over Trumplethinskin, until that rat bastard Comey sent his treasonous letter to Congress just 11 days before the election.
She was ahead of Trump by 11 points before that...but Comey's letter cost her at least 7 or 8 percentage points, leaving her with only a 4 point lead going into the election.

The fact is that the Republicans can only steal elections when the race is close!
(Obama proved that in 2008 & 2012)

In my opinion, "The Great Frustration" will be what the Democrats in the House & Senate will be experiencing for at least the next two years.

Our only hope is that the American people will rise up and throw the Republicans out of both Houses of Congress in 2018.
