When Bush was in office, every week, seriously Every single week, another thing came up that had to be the last straw.
Each time we thought, Bush has to be called on this. Each time he lied, money disappeared, disasters were managed horribly, the constitution was broken or Cheney did anything, we thought that this had to be the final straw.

Do not expect Republicans to even notice the stupid and evil. That is how their bread is buttered.Unless the money behind them decides it does not like Trump, we are stuck with him. It does not matter what the evidence is. It does not matter what treason or gross action he commits. Until we link these things to the money above the Republicans, we just are yelling at the hand puppets. He can shoot a friend in the face, go to war with the wrong country for made up reasons, wreck the economy or blunder in the most appalling ways. It will not matter. It did not matter when Bush was in office. It won't matter now.

Pence is a nightmare, Pence represents the end of everything that makes America great, everything. He may not use nukes, Trump certainly will eventually.

2. I think this time the war on the media is going to change things.

I mean, before, they still had access. The media wanted to keep that access by appearing fair and impartial and not ruffle any feathers. Now, all bets seem to be off: Spicer lying and refusing questions. Threats to kick the press out of the White House. All of this will perhaps galvanize the media to stop being complacent and getting out there and reporting the truth.

The administration is going to go too far, try to prevent the media from actually working, and I don't think they're going to sit still and merely report on the official, patently false "message" they are fed.

8. Not trying to be snarky or rude

But the news media is so very deep in trump's pockets.
We heard the guy talking dozens of times about sexually assaulting women and teenage girls and the news media put, at best, a half-hearted effort into covering it. He said it was ok to call his own daughter a "hot piece of ass" and barely a blip. I've sat and watched as even news host I respect like Chris Hayes, would sit there silent and let trump surrogates monologue without challenge for 5 or more minutes and then thank them and move on. He Never turned over his tax returns. First in modern times, doesn't even give a shit. During all this time there was a incident in which they left the main screen up on an empty podium that trump would eventually be at, for almost 30 minutes while Sanders was live at a event with over 20,000 people. An empty podium with trump's name on it. An empty podium!

As far as I'm concerned the news media cares about controversy and ratings...one big reality TV show.

I sense a change, not that it is a matter of covering the Presidency. No more need to try to be even handed between the two candidates. Now it is truth v.s. propaganda.

they're worried that he'll do something politically suicidal, but until then, nothing matters. there's plenty of common ground -- tax cuts, deregulation, repeal of obamacare, etc. they'll merrily pass laws and donnie will sign them, and all is well in the republican alternative universe.

donnie can outrage and piss off democrats for an eternity and they'll never impeach him.
he can commit high crimes and misdemeanors and they'll look the other way as long as he signs the right laws.

*only* when he starts costing the ultra-rich money or manages to alienate the republican rank-and-file (despite the brainwashing) will they dump him.

That's why he's been so shrill about attendance. He's really in a pretty weak position. Republicans lost seats in House and Senate. He knows he lost the popular vote: 54% of voters voted for someone else, not him. And I'm sure that hurts. He's lashing out like a baby.

So I think he's in a pretty weak place overall. He's alienated the intel community, and definitely the MSM, and he's only got Congress until he steps over the line and threatens to make them un-re-electable. They know who won the popular vote and are watching.

So let them lie to their base. See how far that gets them.

donnie doesn't need a 9/11 when republicans already control everything.

that may change after the mid-terms, but until then, congress will pass everything they've dreamt of passing for eons, and donnie will sign.

11. Mandate probably does not matter

Bush was not Elected president in either election. There was no true legitimacy and a lot of Republicans made a point of distancing themselves from him.
My belief is that the Republican base responds to authoritarian advertising. That is why Trump did better than the other Republican candidates. They have been well conditioned to salivate at the dog whistle of ignorant bullying anger and hatred. Or as they call it, "The Southern Strategy."

The would prefer that Hillary Clinton had won.
