Son, we live in a world that has lies,

SEAN SPICER: Son, we live in a world that has lies, and those lies have to be guarded by Trump loyalists. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Jim Acosta, CNN? We have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for the facts, and you curse the lies. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what we know. That the stain of telling lies, while tragic, probably saves office-holders. And our existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves office-holders. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want us at that podium, you need us at that podium. We use words like exaggeration, hyperbole, alternative facts. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent hiding something. You use them as a punchline. We have neither the time nor the inclination to explain ourselves to a gaggle who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very mass audience that we provide, and then questions the manner in which we provide it. We would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way. Otherwise, we suggest you pick up a press release, and print it in the Post. Either way, we don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
