Don't Be Bullied on Social Media

Most of us are pretty friendly folks, even on social media. Right now, though, we may be posting our dissatisfaction with Donald Trump and his insane flurry of noxious activity. That's guaranteed to get slammed by right-wingers on the social media venues we use.

Don't put up with bullying behavior on your social media sites. Don't argue with the bullies. Simply hide them, block them, unfriend them or take whatever action that will silence them on your personal feeds. We don't have to tolerate bullies within our own little domains on social media sites. We can take control of our own personal areas.

By blocking the bullies, we silence them on the tiny pieces of the venues we call our own. Don't allow bullies to exist where you post. Get rid of them, even if you relate to them in other ways.

That's my advice. Thanks for reading it.

1. If I was into politics on social media, I would start an account that didn't use my real name.

I found out my Twitter handle includes my real name, so I will just use it to follow and not post.

If I felt motivated, I guess I could create another Twitter handle with an assumed name.

When people are using their real names and they are attacked it hurts and it is personal.

Just because the election is over, don't think the propaganda has. It never stops.

6. Beware of click bait and "like farms"

Political sites like "Patriots for Freedom" "American Conservatives" "Veterans for Liberty" and their ilk. Especially anything that asks you to "Amen!," "Like!," or "Share!" They cobble these page names together from a vocabulary list and just slam together some buzzwords to make a page. Then they slap a flag on the header and call it good. They'll put up some dumbass thing like "we said the Pledge of Allegiance in school. Like and share if you did, too!" Duh.

They're the equivalent of fishing sites, as they exist only to generate controversy, clicks, and ad revenue. I am constantly blocking them and urging my friends to do the same.
