Seriously, give me one hopeful thing.
Yes, we are demonstrating. However, we don't count the votes, we don't have any access to drawing the districts, our elected Democrats are not fighting this.
Even if we get rid of Agent Orange, we still have Christian Sharia Pence, Ryan, and McConnell.
Where is the hope? If you have a direction for me to look, I'm really, seriously interested, becasue all I see is tunnel with zero light at the end.

(38,439 posts)did Winston Churchill lose hope?
did Abe Lincoln lose hope?
did Barack Obama lose hope?
did Eleanor Roosevelt lose hope?
did Helen Keller lose hope?
...and I ask DU members to list as many examples as possible to light the tunnel, even a little.

(57,595 posts)That such an event could be pulled off on such short notice is remarkable. I'm old, and I'm beginning to think that there might be something to this "internet" thing that all the kids are talking about.
As librarian said to me the next day, she was there with 500,000 of her closest friends.
Full disclosure: I did not go. I ride the Metro five days a week, and the thought of one more day on the Metro, with crowds well beyond weekday levels, was more than I wanted to deal with. My SIL went, with her daughter, her daughter's husband, and the daughter's husband's parents. They watched as one loaded train after another went past before there was one they could board.
At least one Farecard machine* broke down, and the Metro personnel were waiving people onto the trains anyway. Who knows what the actual fare count was?
* Yeah, I know. They don't use Farecards anymore. I don't know what the machines are called. SmarTrip card machines?

(36,876 posts)Hope is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -
And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -
Ive heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.
- Emily Dickinson
