This illegitimately elected, ignorant and STUNNINGLY foolish man cannot stop assaulting the constitution. Not only is his executive order on immigration unnecessary, xenophobic and Islamophobic, but it is disingenuous as it was designed to incite the worst impulses of this terrible man's most rabid supporters. This is not only a terrible tragedy for the poor individuals caught up in this hateful and un-American game this appalling man is playing, but it is arguably a bigger tragedy for our nation and a disgrace to every single American citizen.

(38,492 posts)I can't believe that ALL Congressional Republicans are going to continue to support this morally and ethically bereft sewer zombie. I have to think that a few cracks are appearing in the dam. I get that McConnell and Ryan are almost as bad, but some of them HAVE to be getting calls from constituents and maybe even conscience.

(29,098 posts)There are many of us. We all need to do what we can but it's unreasonable to expect that each of us can do it all. It's important to call your representatives and I have taken to contacting my local Republican party. Let your local Representatives know as well that you are not happy....They count on your vote as well and if local Republicans start to get nervous believe me it will trickle up. Any Republican in your state is a target for a call.
Attend a demonstration if you can. The crowds will give you energy and help you to feel less alone.
Pace yourself. Turn off the computer and the news. Watch a comedy, Listen to music, Cook something delicious. It's important to still find some joy in daily life.
Remember that there are more of us than there are of them. We will eventually win this. Stay angry, stay committed and take care of yourself...We need you!

(6,530 posts)Big picture right now is that the yam-faced cretin-in-chief has endangered innocent refugees and valid allies of the US. He's provided sought-for ammunition to Daesh. Yes, he's a disgrace. Support the ACLU and continue to insist upon the rules set forth in the Constitution.
So. Regroup.
Show and tell his supporters that he is doing EXACTLY what Daesh wants. Show and tell his supporters that we are not 'snowflakes' or any kind of flakes. We're the majority and we were right to reject Trump. Every one of his acts thus far has shown it. Remind them Trump is a known tax cheat, a business cheat, an adulterer, a creeper of young girls, a prosecuted (by the DOJ) racist when necessary. Dude was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple. Use that.
Next problem: "President Pence."
Ugh.

(205,340 posts)And it's not just those of us on DU, people I barely know have been affected so much by this that they feel the need to talk about it. It's like half the country is right on the edge of a panic attack - more than half, actually, 3 million more...
