His father pushed him down some stairs as a young kid?
He knows he's a fraud and is afraid of falling?

Taken as they walked from the buildings state rooms to the West Wing, it seemed to sum up how deeply they had bonded after a historic first meeting on Friday afternoon in Washington DC.
But an alternative explanation emerged that the US president suffers from bathmophobia a fear of stairs or slopes.

remember how he wouldn't release his medical information, also likely to hide a serious medical condition.

(52,307 posts)now their story is that he has a phobia of stairs but didn't need to disclose that?
oh, i know, he only developed the phobia of stairs after the election, yeah, that's the ticket!
or hey, we already litigated this in the election, people don't care about his undisclosed health problems!

(4,904 posts)Usually going down stairs is worse than going up. If you have any knee weakness, they can sometimes buckle. Depends on the height of length of the steps, some are harder than others.
However, trying to remember, doesn't he have to climb down stairs to get out of his plane? Maybe they are specially built.

(90,779 posts)It's not uncommon for the elderly to be afraid of stairs/steps.
They don't heal as well as the young.
Not only has his age affected his fear level but it has affected his mind as well.
I say that not because I am attacking the elderly. It is true about the elderly.
They break a hip and it can be the death knell for them.
Age does work against the mind and body. Some more so than others.
Trump is in poor health.
He's neither mentally nor physically fit enough to be president.
We all get old if we are fortunate enough to live that long, and we will all face the perils that come with aging.
While advanced age is not a reason to bar someone from being president, the extent to which advanced age has damaged you both physically and mentally should be.
FDR was physically challenged but his mind was sharp and he was not as old as Trump.
I know Trump sees himself as young and vibrant but Trump is delusional.
I'm in my 50's and I hope to live longer. I want to grow old, but I also know that aging can be a barrier to things I like to do now.
For Trump, as well as the ravages of his mind, he is also afraid of breaking his bones because he's no longer steady on his feet.
Aging hasn't been kind to Trump.
Not that I feel sorry for him. I'd have tripped him - because I'm getting clumsy in my old age.
So you see, we all have our crosses to bear as we age.
I had such fun typing that out!
Sounds almost like sympathy but not. Just an ever so polite way of saying Trump is one dizzy spell away from breaking his neck or one good twitter rant away from a stroke.
But I'm only picking on Trump...not others who are the same age or older. Because, again, I hope to grow older as well.
Beats the alternative. Well, unless you're Trump. Poor thing. So old. So decrepit. So mentally unfit. Sad.
