What if Trump made an announcement and the Opposition Party refused to show up? Would the tree make a sound?

FTR, that last statement was based on the question, "If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does the tree make a sound?

Perhaps if the media aka the Opposition Party stops letting Trump jerk them by the chains while disrespecting them, he would stop it. The fact that he is moving up his SCOTUS announcement by two days probably means he wants to change the subject from how badly his administration screwed up this past weekend. We should not let him. And do we really care who his nominates for SCOTUS. We already know that the nominee will be cut from the mold of Justice Scalia. Do we really care what this one's name is?

Hardiman, at 37, was nominated by President George W. Bush to serve on the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He was nominated to the appeals court four years later.

A Notre Dame graduate who received his law degree from Georgetown, Hardiman would find himself in sparse company on the Supreme Court bench — each justice currently seated holds an Ivy League law degree.

As SCOTUSblog noted, Hardiman has reflected originalist opinions on Second Amendment cases. On abortion-related issues, Hardiman has not weighed in directly.

At Fox News, William Mears reports that Trump’s list has narrowed to two candidates, Judge Neil Gorsuch and Judge Thomas Hardiman, and that although “the president has privately kept one person in mind for some time,” “supporters of several candidates continue to solicit White House officials, knowing last minute change-of-hearts can and do happen.” In The Washington Post, Robert Barnes reports that “those who know Gorsuch and have studied his decade of solidly conservative opinions on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit say he more resembles the man he would replace — the late Justice Antonin Scalia — than the more moderate Kennedy.” Also in The Washington Post, Kimberly Kindy reports that Judge William Pryor, another name on the shortlist, “is perhaps the most polarizing figure of the potential nominees, with some groups thinking he leans too far right while other groups view him as leaning too far left.” In The National Law Journal (subscription or registration required), Tony Mauro and Marcia Coyle report that Gorsuch, Hardiman and Pryor all “appear to qualify as millionaires, according to their most recent financial disclosure forms.”
