CAN JARED AND IVANKA OUTRUN DONALD TRUMPS SCANDALS?Less than a fortnight into his new post, Kushner appears unable to control his father-in-lawand is furious that his efforts are being undermined.
.............
Less than 12 hours later, though, it all fell apart. After Peña Nieto reiterated that Mexico does not plan to pay for Trumps proposed wall, Trump tweeted that if Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting. Just like that, the meeting was canceled. Kushner was fucking furious, the source told me. Id never once heard him say he was angry throughout the entire campaign. But he was furious. (A representative for the Trump administration did not immediately respond to a request for comment.)
...........
Kushner also appears to have already endured the physical toll of the job. He has become pale, the source noted. His body language and his demeanor toward Trump had changed, and he had lost a noticeable amount of weight from his already slight frame in just a week. (Another source who knows Kushner said that he typically forgets to eat when working long hours. Nevertheless, Politicos Playbook on Monday spotted him picking up pizza in Dupont Circle on Sunday evening.)
Ivanka Trumps initial foray in D.C. has not been much easier. Upon arrival in the swamp, she herself had mapped out a plan to hold some sort of vague policy role related to women, children, and families. Its a note she struck repeatedly throughout her fathers campaigntalking about affordable child care and equal pay and earned tax credits from the Republican National Convention stage, on the stump, and in interviews. The fact that she commented on little elseneither his Muslim ban nor Mexican wall nor nasty women jabs nor comments about sexual harassmentirritated many who wanted her to be a moderating figure on her father. But she methodically stuck to her strategy with remarkable, almost unbelievable discipline. That discipline led marketing experts to tell me days before the election that her brand would easily recover from her fathers campaign, if he had lost. She had adroitly attached herself to one idea that would resonate with her female customer base.
Trumps history of self-awareness and discipline merely exacerbated the fallout from her photograph. How could someone so keenly aware not realize that this post seemed tone deaf? Yet, to some, it appeared to be part of a pattern. Ivanka Trump remained publicly silent over the Inauguration weekend when millions of women marched outside her fathers new front door. She was quiet when Trump moved to peel back portions of Obamacare that cover health care benefits for children, and provide a number of provisions that economically impact working mothersincluding the cost of contraception, breast pumps, and regulations that require workplaces to provide lactation rooms and allot time for pumping within the work day. The photo made me feel like maybe she is more like her father than Id initially thought, the source who noted Kushners role in the Mexican visit negotiations told me. Another source familiar with the couple told me that while the post was idiotic and showed her naiveté in not understanding her surroundings or circumstances, there is a major difference between the father and daughter. She can adjust her behavior accordingly, and shes open to doing that, the source told me. Another source familiar with the situation noted that Ivanka feels terrible about the post, and does not want something like this to happen again.
Unlike the campaign, Kushner and Trumps futures are no longer entirely in their own control. Both have hitched themselves to her fathers wagon and, just 10 days in, are starting to see signs that it might not work out well for their own ambitions. Trump, after all, is about Trump. Its a very difficult line to straddle here, but the question is whether the Trump strategy might end up strangling her, the source familiar with the couple told me. It puts her in a really difficult situation.

(34,072 posts)Ivanka wore that dress & posted that photo, mostly unaware of the details of her father's order - or the fallout.
Her husband is an orthodox Jew, who does not use technology from Sundown on Friday to Sundown on Saturday. The article wasn't explicit, but apparently she follows the same practice. The EO was signed 16 minutes before sundown on Friday - her picture was posted on Saturday around the time they were emerging from their ban on technology.
If you think back, the chaos has been at its peak between sundown on Friday and sundown on Saturday both weeks.
And - I expect the first weekend of Trump unhinged did not escape Bannon's notice, and that the timing of the second week's order (just before sundown) was intentional so that Kushner could not intervene until after the damage was done.

I won't bitch out Jared & Ivanka since (or if) they were observing their faith.
Bannon taking advantage of their observances to keep the other two from influencing Donald tells me that he wants total control. But I guess that's nothing new, is it?
I have no use for any of these people, and don't feel sorry for their feelings or weight loss.
But if Jared or Ivanka can influence Donald to be a little bit better in respect that less people suffer, then I do care.
Yet, the only good thing that can happen is the whole lot of them is out of the seat(s) of power, and just disappear - from the likes of Donald to the McConnells to the Ryans to the Mercers, etc.

I've heard different people use this reasoning to qualify him to be an intel big-wig. Oh, please.
I personally think he's a mole. Wanting to know everything that is being said. Putting a bit more fear in dissenters?
Or, maybe he's the Russian mole. I might've read about that on the internet. After I post this, I can honestly say I did read it on the net.
But really. Extensive experience?

Donald, who buys a KFC family size bucket at a time for himself, in between $800 dinners at Jean Georges, needs to part with another $21.99 and pick up an 8 piece for Jared.
I am fascinated at how screwed up the dining habits of the billionaire class are. Massive weight fluctuations are the norm.
I was relocated for much of the year and had this routine that involved walking 6 miles in the morning and another 6 back at night. Night often meant 9-10pm when the only places open on the walk were Walgreens and KFC. So it was KFC for dinner. Did you know that KFC is packed on the first of the month when all the disability checks show up? Packed with partially handicapped overweight people feasting.

(1,364 posts)I have wondered about that in his case. I also wonder about just exactly what is the relationship between him and Herr PutinFluffer? I have seen a few things occur between them that cause me to go, whaaaaa? Just very subtle stuff.

(1,364 posts)I don't think highly of closet cases, and they are usually easy to spot. One item that I and several other gay men have noted, is that closeted men often choose a non-citizen woman. I know of several cases of this. The woman is happy to get US citizenship, and the husband gets a beard. Seeing as how Herr PutinFluffer's previous marriages have iron-clad non-disclosure stuff written into it, and as you mentioned above about Melania's arrangements, and some of the subtle stuff I have seen between him and his very pretty young son-in-law, makes me wonder. For me, it is the hypocriticalness of it all. If one is going to be gay, be out and proud, otherwise, you are a liar, and Herr PutinFluffer lies in every single sentence. Which makes me also wonder if Pootey-Poot has more info on him other the the golden showers and if the golden shower producers were actually female.

She can still choose to butt out of the WH.
Tanuki
(14,918 posts)so she would have a plausible excuse for backing out of any active role. If it works for Melania, whose 10-year-old is in school all day, it would work for Trump's own true love Ivanka.

(9,893 posts)anyone who is involuntarily a member of this fiasco. He is her father. Of course she has benefited handsomely from that relationship, but she has also paid for it. She doesn't appear to be the least like him when it comes to the pathology. She could distance herself...but he is her father. She may hope to limit the damage to him and to his (their) name. I doubt she will benefit from has stint as President, and if I had to guess I'd say she and Kushner wish the whole thing would just go away. They are sane people in a sea of insanity.

(10,952 posts)Or maybe she is better at covering things up. I don't think that she has any real comprehension of what women go through in this country as she grew up with the proverbial golden (in this case) spoon. She may try to talk a good game but it rings hollow. I don't think that she really cares about the masses. She has watched how her father operates in public and the reactions of the masses and is smart enough to play the game in such a way that she appears to come off sympathetic. She is no Chelsea Clinton who comes across as authentic.

(17,006 posts)There is no way Bannon likes sharing power with Jared. He has to get rid of him somehow and Twitler doesn't like failures.
