What does the term Sanctuary City mean to you.........

I have been learning quite a lot watching CNN talking to regular folks and seeing their interrupting things like Sanctuary City. One woman thought it was like a safe place for criminals.

There was another one simple immigration but can't recall

of illegals. No one does a single thing about it. They get driver's licenses. Drive around town, just like any citizen. And the worst part, people only pay them $20 a DAY !!

What never made sense to me - all the hoopla about illegals - from the wingnuts here....when they employ them.

Sure it's more complex but always thought - fine the employers big time and the issue would go away.

The illegals I know are great. They are kind, peaceful, respectful, extremely hard working. One I know very well, walked from the Mexican border to San Antonio. Yes, walked. He has been here for many many years. And, every week he sends money home to Mexico. He and his wife have been apart for many years. There are grandkids he has never seen. It really is so sad.

We can't have a set of second-class people in America who work here and serve many of us - and not offer them safety and security as a common human decency.

The Feds have argued immigration is a Federal constitutional mandate, including enforcement.

So be it.

5. State and local police departments shouldn't be in the business of seeking out illegal aliens,

nor should they directly inquire any individual about his/hers immigration, citizenship status. However, if during
the course of routine, normal police procedures, they discover that person is in the country illegally, then it should be
their duty and obligation to detain that person and inform ICE of the situation (especially if they have prior arrests and/or
convictions, warrants).

If ICE isn't interested, fails to show up and take custody of that person within 24hrs, that person is free to go.

Simple as that. I'm willing to wager most PD's and officers would prefer not to deal with this shit...sanctuary city
or not.
