As the Republicans violate the rules of congress to slam their nomiees through what can the people do to stop this?
I will call my congressman and congress people in my state but I feel helpless.
At what point are we at the General Strike level?

(274 posts)The protests this past weekend were a start, but far from being enough...we need millions in the streets, we need Nationwide Wild Cat work stoppages. We are watching a coup take place right in front of our eyes, Trump and company keeping us off balance, and laughing as we take our eyes off the ball....IE, when was the last night you heard any real news about his income tax returns, his ties to Russia, and the Russian hacking of our election? Let alone Comey who has dropped off the news cycles. We have got to rise up and be counted before be are beaten into submission.

If there were starting to be a nationwide call for a wildcat strike I would strongly support it. We need to shut this shit down before it gets MUCH worse and it will if we don't act.

(7,968 posts)I think we need some politically important people to begin the call. Robert Reich might not be enough though he could be a start.

(531 posts)but that is just me. I don't think this admin is going to interpret protest the way admins in the past would. He is not a politician. He routinely employs the labor of small businesses and then outright refuses to pay when the bill comes. He has zero empathy for his fellow man which is characteristic of a narcissist. He thinks 'there is something wrong with those people' when it comes to the poor, disabled, disadvantaged. Those are deficits in his view. Unlike a typical republican president he is not a true public servant; his life is in the private sector and this diversion is probably only a temporary favor from/for a friend (Putin).
