(1,975 posts)The raid was postponed until the next moonless cycle which would put it into Trumps administration.
With that being said, in my opinion (and we all know how much that is worth). Trump hasn't filled his cabinet yet, and droves of intelligence analysts have left. There should have been more eyes on this than there were. This part here is not Trump's fault, the mission should have been scrubbed once they knew that they were being tracked incoming. That lays at the foot of the mission commander. But, as the ol saying goes, "The buck stops here".

Bannon (We'll be at war with China over the South China Sea soon)'s seven years as a failure as an officer in the U.S. Navy as well as failure as a psych experiment project leader in Biodome 2 is the reason he's Drumpf's Strategy and probably Military advisor.

(5,455 posts)We both know this is a bullshit story. Presidents don't get involved in operational planning.
Unnamed sources say something bad about Trump and half the members here throw common sense and critical thinking right out the window.
More plainly this is pretty much the same thing the right did when there was a bullshit negative story about President Obama.
brush
(61,033 posts)Presidents don't get involved in operational planning but they do access all the info and intel and make the final decision as to whether to okay the operation.
Obama rejected it.
Trump okayed it, trying to make a big splash to show what a strong, decisive leader he is (translation: trying to upstage Obama and his Bin Laden success).
Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

(5,455 posts)Any reviews are done at a much lower level by military professionals with training and experience in these sorts of operations
Do you really think any President and Cabinet members have hours every day to review the various details of every single military operation going on in the Middle East.
To put a different way, do you think the CEO of Ford has the time or training to oversee the autoworkers assembling a car or the accountants doing the books or the HR dept doing whatever it is HR people do?

(37,748 posts)You're not doing a very credible job at supporting your premise with evidence. Mere suppositions and the petulance of "do you also believe...?", while worthy of a third grade debate team, is far below the standard of adult conversation.

(11,996 posts)President Barack Obamas national security aides had reviewed the plans for a risky attack on a small, heavily guarded brick home of a senior Qaeda collaborator in a mountainous village in a remote part of central Yemen. But Mr. Obama did not act because the Pentagon wanted to launch the attack on a moonless night and the next one would come after his term had ended.
