merchandise & get rid of it unless they're more worried about a backlash.
This makes me happy. I like the idea that Democratic voters are behind the wheel at least in this case.

(8,171 posts)On 2/2/17, Nordstrom made an announcement that it's phasing out Ivanka Trump items due to poor sales: http://wapo.st/2ko52pV. The company has further clarified that it's selling through remaining inventory, but will not be replenishing. Once that sell through process is complete, we'll be removing Nordstrom from the #GrabYourWallet list

(20,998 posts)...when they don't sell. Retailer's shelves, racks, display cases, etc. ARE VALUABLE RETAIL REAL ESTATE. If they don't sell, they don't get carried. The backlash is here... it's called a BOYCOTT.

(38,958 posts)It sells or it's gone. Of course the folks they might lose to a boycott are certainly a large consideration.

(48,988 posts)Republicons who can afford it know that the nouveau-riche Trumps have appallingly bad taste and won't buy it.
Not much of a market left.

(17,276 posts)I was looking for some boots. There was a pair of Ivanka Trump boots there, originally marked at $160, then marked down three times until they were clearance priced at $44.
I would not have purchased them even if I had liked them, which I did not.

(21,127 posts)I saw some cute boots and when I saw her name I dropped them like a hot potato.
Everytime I go to Marshalls all I see on the clearance racks are ivanka stuff marked down several times. I saw a cute shirt and then saw the label dropped it on the floor and walked away!

(5,043 posts)wine right by the door.
He promptly left, but only after finding the manager and letting her know he'd be shopping elsewhere until they stopped stocking bad but expensive wines.
We live in a Republican town, and she was a bit flustered, but when he passed by a week later, the display was gone. So he went in to buy a bottle and she came out to talk to him - said they got a lot of blow back and took a loss on the shipment.
His advice - stock good wines that are also good values. If the Trump wine fits that category, fine and good, but the reviews were brutal and the price was high for what it was.

(63,221 posts)crap quality. Cheap, vulgar and tacky, just like the Trumps themselves. Yet they feel like they can charge a premium price because they think their name represents the ultimate in taste and class. It doesn't and people are catching on. The label is losing is status and it's pretty much the only thing of value that Donald had left.

(3,231 posts)they are responding to their cliental. I'm just eye rolling at the trump supporters on facebook threatening to boycott. You have to imagine most of their employees are being effected by his policies as well. Gay, immigrant, women... so many he has insulted...

Stores would be hyping her stuff at the front door and in their advertising. TV, magazines, the whole magilla. Money is their bottom line, not politics.

(7,430 posts)Ivanka, get a clue.
I think that this pattern will build a subtext of Trumpy's presidency. His businesses and those run by his kids will suffer because people in general know that Trumpy is waist-deep in conflicts of interest, and buying products from any of those businesses supports and encourages conflicts of interests. This realistic perception is morally offensive. Sometimes, morality makes a difference.

(48,988 posts)She claims $150 million against the Daily Mail in England because they (she alleges) damaged her good name and will cost her lots and lots of sales of her designer goods that she was going to sell in enormous quantities by using her husband's Presidency to promote them, presumably just by his prominent name. We see today though that Дональда Трампа is using his office to try to damage Nordstroms, so she was undoubtedly expecting him to actively promote her lines.

(5,810 posts)Did it ever occur to Numb-nuts that things started going south for her business because of HIM and what people saw during the campaign? Oh, no. Not a chance because that takes an ability to recognize your own flaws and he is missing that trait. He would rather head for the megaphone to complain bitterly how UNFAIRLY Dear Ivanka has been treated. That seems to be one of his favorite themes.
This is really over the line and I hope it bites him on his ample ass.

(66,316 posts)She's a formerly staunch Republican who has disowned the party, along with everything to do with Trump. In the past, she has bought a number of pairs of Ivanka Trump shoes at Nordstrom (where she is rated a Level 4 shopper - that's pretty high up...).
After the election, she swore never to buy another Trump product again, and called Nordstrom to request that they drop her fashion line. She told them she wouldn't be buying anything branded 'Trump'.
I suspect a lot of people did.
Nordstrom does everything they can to keep Levels 4 and 5 shoppers happy.
