Just a heads up re: Standing Rock. My go-to source is Ruth Hopkins' twitter feed, and
#NoDAPL
Ruth is an award-winning writer for Indian Country Today, and it appears they've begun drilling again, plus outside players are hauling truckloads of trash in and dumping it, thus making the camps appear unsanitary, hence: a "shut 'em down due to health threat" ploy No news link, as...well, there rarely is one...but here's Ms. Hopkins: https://mobile.twitter.com/RuthHHopkins?p=s From NoDAPL: Veterans Stand @VeteransStand4 7m We have reports that drilling began at 5:15 PM local time | #VetStand advance team is onsite, standby for more info ASAP #NoDAPL #NotOver twitter.com/RuthHHopkins/s… View details · snowman @wonstap 16m Retweeted Ruth Hopkins (@RuthHHopkins): There are trucks coming in from outside the area dumping trash at camp. This is a set up. #NoDAPL View details ·

1. And the number of jobs created by this will be too trivial to make any difference.
No on other than out-of-state bazillionaires will benefit if this actually goes through.

3. My go to is friends who grew up and continue to live in Cannonball and that's not quite accurate
The camps were shut down because they are low and will flood when the Missouri floods as the snow melts. Some people are there cleaning up the camps, including tents and other equipment that people left for others to use or just left when they went home.
The camps also closed because the tribal council voted it was time to close then and proceed in court, which they are doing. My friends supported the camps, appreciate all those who have helped bring this issue to the publics attention. |

4. Thanks, uppity!! I thought there were 2 camps going, and a few days ago read that
there were about a hundred in one camp and many more in another...plus that one camp had moved from the "flood plain" - but this all all via tweets, eh?!
Appreciate your update! |

5. There's also something going on with a woman who has use of some property, am not
she if she owns it or has a lease on it, is Sioux living there, who has opened up her place for some to stay on disregarding the tribal council.
There are some schisms there. |

6. Yes, there seem to be differing tactics going on - and you know, I'm a weather freak, and
check their temps every day and OH! Day after day, -30 w/c, highs of, oh, 23...such hard times up there this winter!! - I hope your friends are staying toasty there in Cannon Ball!
