(14,860 posts)I really do think they understand. They don't mind a dictator, as long as the dictator is dictating things they agree with. Their big blind spot is that they've forgotten that a dictator isn't likely to stop after he's successfully oppressed the unpopular people. They don't understand that a dictator will eventually get around to oppressing them.

A lot of them are the fundie Christians who were so enthusiastic to run to the polls to vote for a slimeball like Trump. The Constitution is a convenient argument to use against anyone they don't like. That is all. It's best not to take anything they say seriously. Spare your poor brain cells.
