All we seem to be hearing is that we cannot afford health care, the opposition are just disgruntled Democrats and ne'er do wells. Or we here that these people are paid protesters. We keep hearing about entitlements that are not deserved. They ignore the fact that these programs were paid for. That taking the money for other purposes is really stealing. GOP reps keep saying they are doing what the people want even though such claim is false.
They are all hiding now because their minds are made up. ACA must go whether there is a replacement or not. They have the attitude that they won and they have ALL the say. They also say STFU we know better.
I am glad to see all the kick back, but I wonder if that activity will be enough.

(16,937 posts)in a thread about Utah's "favorite" Rep, I'm not sold on the idea that we've forced a change.
Look, F**KIN' DeVos is Secretary of Education - and that's after a VERY SERIOUS round of pressure, protests, petitions, marches, sit-ins, etc. If we can't stop a slug like that from getting an office in this nightmare administration, what can we realistically expect from a corporate, private industry congress?

(11,576 posts)Unfortunately, Republican lawmakers will remain largely unmoved by their constituents legitimate concerns until they start getting voted out of office. Short of that, there's no real motivation to buck their contributors.

(1,580 posts)at the top of their lungs about the GOP taking aim at Medicare - Medicaid - Social Security. I'm really getting nervous about the silence on this front. They should be running the old Ryan pushing the old lady off the cliff advertisement over and over and over again. Democrats should be constantly educating people about "look what they are doing to you now".

(10,602 posts)We have to get batshit crazy over the top like Lethal Weapon. They won't hear a damned thing unless their skin is in the game. I have never seen such stubborn recalcitrant. We have to had brutal ads and bill boards in their district that are mean.

(7,637 posts)They are denying that their constituents want them to do something different and claiming that those town halls are besieged by agitateurs and its all a conspiracy. Some of them are canceling their town halls, some others had to flee via the back door, etc..
If we keep up the pressure, and hound every one of them wherever they go, its bound to have an effect.
Even Chafftez had to deal with a very upset populace at his town hall in his very red district.
