from the Christian Science Monitor:

An ad featuring a gay pride-themed Oreo is stirring up viral controversy today after Kraft posted the rainbow-colored Oreo on the popular treat's Facebook page. The ad, which featured an oversized cookie with rainbow-hued frosting layers above the date and accompanying caption, Proudly support love! was originally posted to Oreos profile Monday evening.

So far, over 167,000 Facebook users have liked the photoshopped image of the self-proclaimed worlds favorite cookie. It has racked up 48,853 shares and over 22,000 comments not all of them positive, and quite a few vitriolic.

(108,903 posts)Of course just LOOKING at that much creme filling makes my teeth hurt
but I think Kraft/Nabisco could easily come up with a thick but similarly rainbow-layered filling, and market those cookies every June in conjunction with LGBT Pride Month. They would be FLYING off the grocery store shelves! I would sure be buying them, and I virtually NEVER buy cookies.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
