Google Donald Trump revenge and you'll get an impressive archive of articles and videos that discuss his fondness for vengeance. Hes spoken of it with relish, written about it fondly, recommended it enthusiastically as good business practice. Next to money he loves getting even best. And it seems that getting even is what hes doing now.
In the weeks since he attained office he hasnt done one thing for the country, but hes managed to do plenty to us. The Job, it turns out, isnt quite what he thought it would be. Hes unhappy that, as President, he cant just issue commands and order people to do things that are simply unconstitutional. Hes royally ticked off that hes not, well, royalty. And its apparently our fault, so hes retaliating. Or not. But damned if that doesnt make more sense than any other explanation for his utter failure to attempt any grown-up semblance of governance.

Force him to resign or impeach him. He is a disgrace to this country.

(58,785 posts)inevitable rages over our refusal to admire and fear his greatness was always a given. And he's named to various cabinet positions unscrupulous people who will try to destroy institutions we need and value and even potentially oppress, suppress, and imprison citizens as he directs and as they are able.
He's already instructed the Justice Department to become much "tougher on crime." That does not mean prosecuting half his cabinet, of course, but we should not assume it only means going after mostly nonexistent minority "crime waves" to please his base.
Indictments for felony rioting in DC continue and should top 300 by the end. Reportedly this law has never been used as a mass weapon against whole crowds that were picked up. Up to 10 years in prison, $25K fines. A very few cases have been dismissed so far, including those journalists who were arrested while doing their job. Personal electronics confiscated for evidence are still held, and reportedly in some cases personal records have been subpoenaed.
It began the day he was inaugurated.
