Trudau is OWNING Trump! In every possible way.
First, Trump stumbled and mumbled through his prepared remarks like a buffoon. Now Trudau is flowing from flawless French to English and back again with ease; speaking with grace and confidence . . .
The contrast could NOT be clearer.

(31,759 posts)If you draw a line between the top of your ears (generally) from one to the other, the region of hair below that is generally more dense. They grab a section of that and stretch it over a growing bald spot, and pull everything together to try to make it look like a natural head of hair.
My understanding. I'm way open to correction from those with more knowledge.

(100,133 posts)French was the language of courts across both Western and Eastern Europe and thus highly desirable for both men and women of the upper classes. There was some discussion among the Founding Fathers about whether German should be the new US's common tongue, because of the large numbers of citizens whose first language was German.
Americans have grown lazy and insular about learning foreign languages. We've gotten away with it for a century because of our immense land mass with a common tongue, whereas in Europe and much of the rest of the world, learning at least one other language is a necessity. We've also gotten away with it because English became the near-universal language of commerce -- but being monolingual is nothing to be proud of (and believe me, I'm not).

Here's an interesting article on a website for healthcare professionals where some psychiatrists and psychologists, evenly divided between Trump and Hillary voters, frist Trump:
https://www.statnews.com/2017/01/30/trump-mental-health/
Interestingly...
I'm going to argue that. Trump fixates on perceived slights to the point of extreme distress. Take the case of Graydon Carter - the man who first hung the title "short-fingered vulgarian" around Trump's fifty-inch neck in the 1980s. To this day, Trump mails him photos of himself. On each, the fingers are circled and written beside them is always, "see, not so short!" Someone who isn't in distress wouldn't do that as often as Trump does...he might do it once just to fuck with the guy, but over a period of decades? As they say in the South, "that boy ain't right, bless his heart."

Provincial and territorial Premiers also call for more powers over selection of newcomers
The leaders of Canadas provinces and territories have agreed to reach a target of 5% francophone (i.e. French-speaking) immigration outside the province of Quebec. This target follows the objective of the federal government that, by 2018, francophone newcomers will represent at least 4% of all economic immigrants who settle outside Quebec.
The provincial and territorial Premiers issued a joint statement on the matter at a Council of the Federation held in Whitehorse, Yukon in late July. This marks the first time that the 13 Premiers have together endorsed an immigration target for francophones looking to settle in Canada.
Settlement outside Quebec
With its rich culture and pride in its linguistic heritage, Quebec is often the first place francophones look to when starting out on their Canadian immigration objectives. The rest of Canada, however, also has a sizeable francophone population of over one million individuals, representing around 4% of the total population outside Quebec. The government of Canada, as well as the Premiers, want to maintain and build on these vibrant communities.
<SNIP>
For those who seek employment in Canada, it seems like their government is interested in hiring French-speaking candidates.

(26,664 posts)when the visiting head of state is speaking a foreign language. After all, when he cannot grasp what the person is saying, he doesn't want to be seen as expressing agreement.
However, when the guest dignitary is speaking English, then Drumpf should absolutely be acknowledging their words and showing some sort of solidarity. You're right, he stands there looking bored and uncomfortable, like, "I've just said the important stuff and now I'm done talking so can we just get this over with?"
