(111,141 posts)Either the staff managed to convince him to be the sacrificial lamb/agent or he realizes if he stays, he'll sink the lot of them. Or he just wants out of the spotlight to do his thing in the dark corners.
Interesting.

(19,558 posts)Which I also expect to be met with a wall of resistance by the GOP. Luckily the press isn't as sympathetic anymore. They really messed up alienating the press, IMO.
I know 'them' too. They have swallowed the "orange" Kool Aid.

(5,810 posts)I remember during Watergate being glued to my TV set watching the hearings. I was in my 20s but I had the nagging feeling that history was playing out in front of us. Pay attention. This has the same feel and hopefully the same outcome. Buh-bye, Trumpolini.
Hopefully, this will be the first domino to fall.

(17,246 posts)I am pleased that Lieutenant General Michael Flynn will be by my side as we work to defeat radical Islamic terrorism, navigate geopolitical challenges and keep Americans safe at home and abroad, Trump said in a statement. General Flynn is one of the countrys foremost experts on military and intelligence matters and he will be an invaluable asset to me and my administration.

(13,616 posts)but please, please let us not lose focus. We know damn well that this is only the first of many, many scandals that need to be dragged out into the light. We also do not want to give the enemy, and yes I do call them the enemy now a chance to throw up some distraction so that the news media will find some of very easy fix to focus on and allow Flynn to live some nice quiet existence in the United Arab Emirates. You know that is the goal of Trump, to get Flynn out of the way so that he can hide his shame and that the Congress will not want a Trump scandal to detract from things like cutting Social Security and Medicare.
We need to stay focused, we need to be relentless. We need to keep pursuing this as far as it will go, and if that means that we actually find out that folks like the Mitch McConnell's, Paul Ryan's, James Comeys and all hell yes if Mike pence and Donald Trump knew anything about what was going on, that they get prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Allow me to also add without apology that if there is a nice red Russian wound in the Republican Party, that we be ruthless about exploiting it. They are already popping champagne over the Supreme Court, we need to do the maximum amount of damage to the Republicans possible, without mercy, without apology.
herding cats
(19,558 posts)No matter what we all try and read into this, it's a huge loss for Russia. Which is, under our current administration, a win for the US.
Now we need to be laser focused on who knew what, and when they knew it. We need unbiased independent investigations. Which will be a hard battle.
I believe there's real issues here, not partisan imagined ones, which justice demands be uncovered and exposed to salvage our democracy.
