1. Basic Facts: Flynn as fallguy. @potus notified Russian intent to lift sanctions since 7/2016. Trump had to direct Flynn calls & content.
2. CI & acting AG Yates warned them of potential crimes. Pence covered for Flynn. Now Trump claims "Flynn is liar" at a liars convention.
3. Trump can't cover this up now. Counterintelligence & now AG office info is an avalanche. Coverup will be the crime. #investigatetrump

(89,250 posts)shit Ryan serving out the rest of the term to get it.
So many people are crying, "Ryan is just as bad!!" and believe me, I get that; it will still pain me greatly to see the Republicans not truly punished. However, if our only options are a Pence impeachment and nothing happening, I say bring on the impeachment. If nothing else, its very occurrence will do considerable, irredeemable damage to the GOP of unpatriotic traitors.

Memos: CEO of Russia's state oil company offered Trump adviser, allies a cut of huge deal if sanctions were lifted

A dossier with unverified claims about President Donald Trump's ties to Russia contained allegations that Igor Sechin, the CEO of Russia's state oil company, offered former Trump ally Carter Page and his associates the brokerage of a 19% stake in the company in exchange for the lifting of US sanctions on Russia.
The dossier says the offer was made in July, when Page was in Moscow giving a speech at the Higher Economic School. The claim was sourced to "a trusted compatriot and close associate" of Sechin, according to the dossier's author, former British spy Christopher Steele.
"Sechin's associate said that the Rosneft president was so keen to lift personal and corporate western sanctions imposed on the company, that he offered Page and his associates the brokerage of up to a 19 per cent (privatised) stake in Rosneft," the dossier said. "In return, Page had expressed interest and confirmed that were Trump elected US president, then sanctions on Russia would be lifted."
Four months before the intelligence community briefed Trump, then-President Barack Obama, then-Vice President Joe Biden, and the nation's top lawmakers on the dossier's claims most of which have not been independently verified but are being investigated by US intelligence agencies a US intelligence source told Yahoo's Michael Isikoff that Sechin met with Page during Page's three-day trip to Moscow. Sechin, the source told Yahoo, raised the issue of the US lifting sanctions on Russia under Trump.

This article has some info about a $19 million dollar Rosneft deal on Dec. 7, 2016 - which corresponds to the $19.5 million claimed to have been promised to Trump if he lifted the sanctions against Russia...

I think it was he who said "any coverup now - becomes the crime." He was a guest on with Brian Williams tonight and MAN did thing start to line up. The other guest was former intelligence agent Naveed Jamali, who helped connect even more dots and explain how all of this could happen. Described how a disgruntled and bitter just-fired administration exec finds himself orphaned in DC, can't find new work like most retired generals do with big defense contractors (or maybe on-air analysis), and the Russians saw this and moved in. With all the doors closed to him, the Russians open their doors wide, seeing him as an easy mark. As it was worded: "a campaign to try to 'sweetheart' him." And there was further speculation that he changed his focus, such that ideology - um, sorry - trumped loyalty to country because he started thinking of Russia becoming a US ally against ISIS.
As Malcolm Nance mused, on the air, "what did trump know and when did he know it? And was he compliant?"
The other money quote: "it's gonna lead directly to trump."
I'd bet that Flynn and undoubtedly trump also assume that if Flynn "falls on his sword," that'll be the end of it. We'll have a severed head to stick on a pike at the castle gates. We'll have our pound of flesh, and that'll be that.
I very much doubt that ends it. Everybody on camera said one version or other of "this only prompts even MORE questions." And it's not over. "The meter starts running on this story tonight", Brian Williams intoned. Some of his guests said the meter actually started running last year, during the campaign, once word got out that the Russians were purportedly meddling in our election.

(61,695 posts)The bsst answer for Flynn's sake would be to either get everything out there, so any murder would just be revenge, or for Flynn to make it clear that the beans will be spilled if he doesn't call his contact person everyday?
Surely Flynn has a backup plan?
