(115,406 posts)She is like an extension of Bernie's campaign. They are very energetic and involved. They are not Democratic Party supporters per se. They are more Independent in their politics. But there seems to be a lot of grassroots support for her. Democrats could lose these voters very easily.

(115,406 posts)to overlook her. Just my two cents.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)Other than as a Jill Stein type of protest-vote or spoiler-vote, she'd serve no purpose. She brings nothing to the table. She's definitely NOT the "next big thing". She has as much gravitas as Nina Turner, and you don't see anyone seriously mentioning her as a 2020 possibility.

(115,406 posts)They still hold Bernie in high esteem.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)The level of esteem with which he may currently be held by some does not change the fact that he was, in fact, rejected. (Is there another word you'd prefer to use instead? Semantics and word-games won't change anything, however.)

(115,406 posts)Hillary may not have won the popular vote without Bernie supporters?
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)Clearly the word "rejected" is what you're having difficulty with. I'm interested, therefore, in what other word you'd prefer to use. Can you elaborate? Or are you just playing games?

(8,760 posts)Hillary crossed the plate first, so she won.
Bernie was rejected though, by both centrist Democrats and the party structure.

(2,198 posts)the fool we now have in the WH. Tulsi is no one I would support under any circumstances. Anyone filled with obvious hate (no matter what kind) should not hold any public office. Their hearts are not FOR the people as much as AGAINST something.

(2,297 posts)And she was for Bernie before it was cool to be for Bernie, who knows, Assad could be cool by 2020. I see the tide turning for Iran, why not Syria..... Could definitely pull the youth vote.

(2,297 posts)Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said she was disinvited from Tuesday night's first Democratic debate after voicing a call for more of them.
Gabbard, the vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Monday on "The Situation Room" she was told her vocal support for more debates had made her "no longer welcome to come to the debate."
Gabbard said the message was conveyed to her chief-of-staff from the chief-of-staff of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
"The prevailing message of that was that because I continued to call for more debates, that I should not go to the debate in Las Vegas," the Hawaii congresswoman said. "The issue here is not about me saying, 'Boo hoo, I'm going to miss the party.' The issue here is one of democracy and freedom of speech."
The New York Times reported earlier Monday that Gabbard had received a message through her staff about her attendance at the event one day after she appeared on television calling for more Democratic debates. Bernie Sanders campaign then offered her a ticket later on Monday.
"If she needs a ticket, have her give me a call," Jeff Weaver, Sanders' campaign manager, said on CNN's "New Day" on Monday. "I think we have a couple; we can give her one."

I don't agree with her on everything, but as long as she represents our party I'll support her.

(2,297 posts)Warren will get the DNC support in 2020.
And by 2024, there could be mostly female candidates, it will be that much harder to lock in that demographic.

She could be a real Third Party threat by 2020, in my humble opinion.

(115,406 posts)But, was surprised by the support for her on Facebook. Maybe it means nothing, as most posters say? She has an independent appeal that makes her a threat to the Democratic Party, in my opinion. We can ignore her if we choose.
