Sorry, not going to buy into that Debbie Downer POV.

(20,049 posts)Our nation, and our democracy are stronger than you're giving them credit for here. We're in for a very rough two years, but we will see improvements then. Come 2020 I expect even more improvements.
Resist! We are the United States of America. It's literally in our hands.

(45,806 posts)Yes, the Pubs are in charge, but their MOST IMPORTANT ITEM IS GETTING REELECTED! Of the Pub voters start revolting against Russian interference, or God Forbid take over, and they know THEY will be replaced at the next election opportunity, They will join the Dems in making that impossible.

(21,836 posts)I can relate to what you are saying, but we are making cracks in the wall. At least as far as the latest turn of events. People protesting in huge numbers is also a plus. I just don't know that we can outlast this onslaught.
I still don't know a cure for stupid, and that is becoming part of our DNA. Ask yourself what was more stupid; Bombing Iraq and then reelecting Bush or electing Trump?
If we can't win big in 2018, it will take a lot of wind out of our sails and i may have to completely agree with you.
In the meantime, take care of yourselves and work for the best.

(22,151 posts)we have known what is shocking people right now but it seemed no one cared.
I don't think he can clean out the intel agencies. As Malcolm Nance said tonight, they are equipped with multibillion dollar spy equipment that trump and none of his varsity squad could ever figure out.
Look who is surrounding this clown - people who do not have a clue how government works.
The media is catching on rather quickly and there never was a honeymoon.
Fasten your seatbelt - it's going to be a bumpy ride back to sanity in this country but we'll get there.

(255,526 posts)You're going to find folks here who share your feelings, scared, angry, frustrated, we've all had those feelings ever since the night of November 8th and it just gets worse by the day. But one advantage we have is that we're on the right side of things, history is on our side, as well. With the latest revelations, the tide seems to be turning, and there's starting to be more hope here, too.
I've been on DU since early 2003 and have learned so much here since then. The Bush* years were pretty dark, then Obama came along and things changed, not enough for some, but I blame the Republican obstruction for that. In my experience, DUers are the smartest people on the internets and the ideas and depth of knowledge here still continues to impress me. I learn something new here everyday.
So stick around and the ideas and perspective here should give you hope. I've been a nervous wreck since I woke up at 3am on election night, just in time to see the unimaginable on the TV news. But I continue to read here and engage with others and try to remember that things have changed before and they will again. Granted, I don't remember seeing or experiencing anything like this in my lifetime, but things are changing pretty fast and from what I've read, I really don't think they can sustain it. With the resignation of Flynn and the investigations to come, not to mention the activism that has swept the country, something has to change. I wish it would happen faster, but I've learned to be patient.
That said, welcome to DU! We're glad to have you with us!
