U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro accused President Trump on Thursday of putting a mass deportation program into place, saying it goes beyond anything orchestrated by prior administrations.
In a flurry of tweets, Castro said its hard not to conclude that mass deportations have begun following a meeting he attended with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
He said ICE officials made it clear only Dreamers undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals executive order without any offenses including traffic tickets or perceived gang affiliations would be exempt. He said the only thing that will limit the program is the size of ICEs budget.

(19,038 posts)What would you do if they were coming to take you away from your family and eject you from your home and country? If I told you that right now they were in their way to your home to destroy your family and tear it apart for ever, what would you do? Immigrants live here and have a moral right to be here and keep their families intact. It's pure racism to try to destroy their families.
I can tell you that if it was a bunch of minorities coming to tear white faniliee apart and eject whites from the country, people would fight. So fight, fight however you can.

Trump is just waiting for an excuse to escalate this to domestic warfare.

Ask yourself to reflect on the results of Amerindians applying your sentiment. Ask yourself what the state reponse would have been had the civil rights supporters applied your tactic.
To avoid disingenuous answers, respond to yourself rather than me (as I'm guessing you'll simply rationalize an absurd public answer), but do it honestly.
If we are going to arm ourselves, best to strap on rational thought rather than firearms.

(7,430 posts)DACA people are in danger. There is no due process. Suspicions of any conduct can result in deportation. If a DACA person gets a ticket for improper change of lanes, deportation can result. If a DACA person has a gang-related neighbor, deportation can result.
What ICE is ALSO doing is dismantling the economic backbone for much of the nation's agricultural system. But why care about crops rotting in the fields (It's already happening in Georgia.) when you can "Make America White Again"?

(23,530 posts)The detention centers are awful places. Things were bad under President Obama. I understand they will get worse now. But, I don't want President Obama to get a pass for what he did:

In a letter to President Obama, 32 House Democrats decried the governments construction of new centers to handle the surge of immigrants, and questioned whether people were being held unnecessarily.
As the law requires, there needs to be a better assessment in place to appropriately screen and assess these women and children, many of whom are fleeing violence, torture or persecution in Central America, she said.
