RT and Russia got him good.
HE was a con man from the start. Now he's a russian apologist in bed with the American Conservative Union.
Just wanted to pass it on.

(11,600 posts)The show, which he continues to host, blends interviews with local officials and sharp-edged banter with callers, spiced up with Big Eddie's rants about national affairs. He might report on a local school board meeting, break for the latest on pork belly futures, then swerve into acid commentary on the presidential primaries. The broadcast area reaches into South Dakota and Minnesota; on any given morning, nearly 30% of radio listeners in the region are tuned in to his show.
For years, Schultz's patter on the regional show was conservative. He scoffed at the homeless for complaining about the cold. "How about getting a job?" he'd ask. He sneered at the three Democrats who represent him in Congress, nicknaming them the Three Stooges.
"I lined up with the Republicans because they were antitax, and I wanted to make a lot of money," Schultz said.
About two years ago, listeners began to hear a softer tone.
Schultz had once derided farmers for relying on government subsidies. Now he was pounding Bush for not offering extra aid during a drought. He was calling for universal health insurance. And more services for homeless veterans.
Some dismayed fans suspected a cynical motive. "My own opinion is, he knew he would never go national if he stayed on the right or in the middle. I truly believe he moved to the left because he thought that's where his career would get the biggest boost," said Ron Gilmore, 42, who runs a cleaning business in Fargo. "You don't change your politics overnight like he did without a goal in mind."
Schultz insists his transformation was genuine. It all started, he says, with the bologna sandwich.
HE's about himself and the money.

(11,600 posts)YEars ago (like ten or more) I lost friends on a message board (no longer exists)
They insisted that he should be regarded as a great union supporter after he said some REALLY sexist comments. I never forgave him or those suporters after that,
He Message board (for his show at the time) deteriorated.

Now he's just a dildo*.

I never believed his union support either.

(1,606 posts)I did listen to him during the Air America days but not too surprised that he's just following a paycheck. He really did sound like Limbaugh to me, which turned me off.
What I really loved the most out of Air America was Morning Sedition...which made my mornings worth getting up for, they were hilarious. I loved all their bits, and became a Maron fan. Good stuff. (I like my horrific news of the day wrapped in sarcasm and comedy, what can I say)
Ed didn't really strike me as genuine, just a professional pundit like you said. Oh well... he won't be missed!

(26,517 posts)before "seeing the light." During his Air America/MSNBC days, I found him refreshing -- while he wasn't much my style, I figured his "Rush of the left" persona was one that could connect with a lot of erstwhile right-wing talk listeners. Still, I always thought that, with his background and "middle-America populism" attitude, it wouldn't surprise me to see him eventually flip back under the right set of circumstances. It gives me no pleasure to see my instincts were right.

(6,991 posts)A friend lives in Pa., and she used to work @ Happy Valley from the early 1980's and into early 2005, and she told me that she had occasion to be in close proximity of Joe Paterno on many an occasion, and she sold me that he really used to dog Bill Clinton out and talk about hos a moral he was because of the Lewinsky affair. She said it got on her nerves, and that the football players didn't really want to talk about (Bill Clinton) or about politics, especially not when they were practicing etc.
Well here we are, all of these years later and we now know about the 'alleged' relationship/friendship between JoePa and his buddy Jerry Sandusky.
The DISGUSTING hypocrisy ... I swear
Botany
(72,234 posts)..... it was clear that he should not be coaching anymore and still he kept
hanging on and on even after he did not see or couldn't move fast enough
to get out of the way of some players and got some broken bones. And this
was 5 or 6 years before Paterno was fired as coach by PSU. But when the
story about Joe Pa covering up Jerry Sandusky's acts came out I thought
PSU should have blown up the football stadium and dumped football for-
ever.

(7,851 posts)I used to really like the Ed Show when he was on MSNBC. I didn't bother to watch him on RT because I decided that I didn't want to watch that channel (I don't like being propagandized). I was pretty disappointed in him for taking a job there.
Now CPAC. Fuck him all to hell.

Raine1967
(11,600 posts)Pap is all in as well.
He's also a regular on Ed --
As far as I am concerned -- ANY who let's RT produce their show in their DC studio is complicit.
And I want to make this clear, Pap, Ed, Thom and others who use RT STUDIOS are part of the problem.
I don't care who RT decides to syndicate.
It's all about going to RT and use thier studios to brodcast a show.
All anyone has to do is watch the decline of Ed.
LenaBaby61
(6,991 posts)Great point ^^^^
I don't watch RT network. A buddy who does. I don't know how he can watch, but then again he has been a civil rights lawyer for over 30 years and he has a strong stomach for things I couldn't nor wouldn't be able to
Raine1967
(11,600 posts)I don't have the time to go back and find those posts but they exist. I trust nothing that is produced from that networks Station here in DC.
They are all pawns, IMO.
Ed -- however -- makes no secret of it.

and anybody else on RT!
And this is coming from a fellow Radio/Podcast host -- who are REALLY Progressive Left.
