Anybody in the UK can raise a petition on the government website, and if it gets over a certain threshold of signatures, it will be debated in parliament. That doesn't mean any binding vote will result.

The House of Commons debated two petitions today, one anti a state visit for Trump (but not a lesser-status visit), and one pro it. There was a procedural vote at the end simply to confirm the debate had been held.

There was no vote for or against the prospective visit.
