Register as a Repulican and primary the incumbents

I’ve been thinking...shouldn't progressives register as republicans so we can primary the GOP incumbents and the vote as progressives in the general.

We could take over the GOP.

2. I am a Democrat. I register as one, vote as one, and try my best to live my life as one.

I would not register as a Republican under any circumstance. I will vote in my party's primary and leave the Republicans to sort out their own mess. I want no part of them.

3. I have two brothers in law that have been doing this for decades

They are both solid Democrats but they have been trying to skew the Republican primaries for a very long time. The first I knew of it was in 2000 when they voted for Bush in the primaries.

This past election, though, they regret voting for Trump in the primaries - they thought Trump was unlikely to win. Boy, were they wrong!

6. We have open primaries in Alabama.

Since we are going to have Republicans in charge based on statewide voting - for now - often our only influence in elections is to pick the worst primary Republican (best for us Democrats).

I believe Democratic crossover votes gave us our "Luv Guv" - who may be impeached. There was a three-way primary run-off back a ways, and the other two were extreme right and even more psychotic.

We definitely helped pick "the best" Republican governor!
