Aviation experts: you can help impeach Trump

Louise Mensch has been tracking Michael Cohen's plane history, she is hot on his trail, it's complicated. She needs help with Serial numbers/registration aviation questions. I don't understand it all myself, but read her timeline on Twitter. @LouiseMensch

Transponder codes change all the time. You get a new one from ATC when you get your clearance. I've even had different transponder codes on a single flight.

Registration numbers (N numbers) can be changed, but it does require paperwork filed with the FAA.

The key is the serial number. This should not change for the life of the aircraft. The airworthiness certificate is tied to the serial number.

Was it editing down my 2 something paragraph post, or too much Jamaican rum?

Anyway, thanks..

The menu on the left side of the page also lists other searches you can do for things like serial number, owner, location, and other records.
