Oprah Says She's Rethinking If She Could Be President

Talk-show host and national darling Oprah Winfrey says she’s reconsidering the possibility of a presidential run in the wake of President Trump’s election to the public office. Winfrey made the comments during an interview with Bloomberg Media’s David Rubenstein. “Have you ever thought that, given the popularity you have—we haven’t broken the glass ceiling yet for women—that you could actually run for president and actually be elected?” he asked. Before, she said, she’d “never considered the question, even a possibility.” But now, after seeing Trump win, “I just thought, ‘Oh... oh?’” Rubenstein said, “Because, it’s clear you don’t need government experience to be elected president of the United States.” She responded: “That’s what I thought. I thought, ‘Oh gee, I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough’... And now I’m thinking—Oh.”

Why doesn't she put her energies into ending gerrymandering and voter suppression?

If the 2020 field ends up looking weak, just throw a couple reasonably intellegent celebrities into the mix to take a stab at it, or light a fire under a politician's ass. Oprah, Clooney, or Dicaprio... there's a few who might have a shot.

It's no less preposterous as DT promising billions of jobs and eradicating ISIS (as well as domestic crime) in a day and providing a magical health insurance plan that costs way less and covers everyone.

I think that the one person in the world the GOP hate more than Hillary Clinton is Oprah. She wouldn't make it out of the primaries.

Well, goodness. You should inform her of your well-supported analysis! I've little doubt she has no other way to gauge viability.

But seriously look up the phrase "Social Justice Warrior" on the internet - it's a phrase the ultra far right white supremacists use to demonize us. They're the anti-PC crowd. Oprah is a frequent target of the anti-PC crowd. They utterly despise her. If she ran for president, it would not be a good thing at all.

I doubt she's seriously or literally considering running for president.

I could be wrong and she may surprise us all ... but such a thing happening doesn't seem very likely to me.

She would probably make a great President. She is much more than a talk show host. She runs a multimillion dollar company, relatively free of scandal, smart, compassionate and she would hire good people and listen to them.
