will be the calls not from the dems, the GOP, the FBI, or the NY Times...it will be from Russia.
Russia and the WH will want to stop deepening suspicions and calls for investigations into ALL the various oligarch connections, money trails, dead journalists, money laundering into NY/Trump Tower, banks that hold Russian assets, etc. They will demand that the WH staunch the bleeding...the WH will try to make this about dishonesty (again!) and not the underlying Russia problem, so Sessions will go. The WH may even make a deal with House and Senate leaders, offering Sessions as a trade for only limited Russia investigations.
To Russia, a LOT more is on the line than who occupies the AG office or even who is in the WH.

(7,819 posts)If a deal is made, then congress won't appoint an independent commission either. What's left of the risk of exposing 25 years of money laundering and embezzlement of oil money and the secret to Trump's wealth is journalism and the IC. And the WH is working on both of those, admittedly.

Art of the deal. Dems can either make a deal and not matter in the Russia investigations...or they can NOT make a deal and not matter in the Russia investigations.
I'm with you and would hope they keeping pushing and angling for transparency and resolution of what could be the biggest political/national scandal in US history...but I'm not sure they see that as the best way to make a difference when for the next two years they have no power otherwise.

They never come clean. Any admission means there's a lot more to the story. Dems know that...but resignation might be enough to relieve pressure on the gop congress by its base.
