The rethugs overplayed, put cards in their socks and overturned the playing table against Obama and Hillary!
We Dem's need to push back hard and stand up to the bullies.

My feeling is that at a minimum, a Special Prosecutor should be appointed.
In Illinois, Patrick Fitzgerald was the Special Prosecutor who successfully prosecuted 2 Governors. One, George Ryan, was a Republican. The other, Rod Blagojevich, was a Democrat. He would be a good choice.

(179,495 posts)A dozen or so people spoke about being afraid of losing their health care and others were worried about trump starting a war. People are scared and want to take action. There is another independent group that has 900 face book members who wants to see some protests and actions. We have a large number of people calling or going by the local GOP congressman to ask for a town hall. If the local GOP congressman has a town hall do you want us to not show up? Do you want us to not ask him questions about health care or Russia?
What do you recommend? Not confront the GOP. Not recruit candidates to take advantage of the feelings against trump? What exactly are you proposing. Do you think that it is wrong to organize groups to register voters at the local schools (in Texas public high schools are required the school to register but this is not done unless we provide the volunteer deputy registrars)?
I am volunteering on voter protection issues. Should we ignore the GOP voter suppression efforts? I have been told that polling shows that voter id is popular (this was actually argued on Tuesday by the state of Texas in the federal voter id lawsuit) and so should we let the state of Texas take the right to vote from 1.3 million eligible voters?
How cautious do you think that we need to be?
JustAnotherGen
(38,043 posts)Only to reload. Understand - shit is getting real. I'm in NJ - we need to keep it up. Our year for voting is NOW. Everything local and state is on the deck. Primary is the 1st week of June. No caution. Hammer the fuck out of this Admin.

(28,271 posts)The Rs will make up any old shit about the Dems, and accuse them of witch hunts and pretty much anything else, NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO! So, they can either cower in fear and get accused of being on a witch hunt, or they can act aggressively and be accused of the same thing.
The cowering hasn't seemed to work out too well. Maybe it's time to try something different. Just something for you to consider as an alternative to getting the vapors.

(11,767 posts)Can you explain how you think Democrats might over play their hand rather than just saying they should be careful? What specifically would you as an adviser to the Democrats tell them to do or NOT to do?
If we were to go simply by perception, then we should just roll over and let them do what they want because that is what conservatives always demand of us. We cannot let conservatives set the rules for what is "acceptable" with regards to trying to uncover Russia's interference into our affairs. We already know that people chosen by of for Trump have deep ties to Russia, we need to find out how far up this goes.
We need to be trying to control the narrative and not let conservatives get away with calling it a witch hunt.

(901 posts)The Russian dossier has been partially verified and the Russians associated with it have all been murdered. The former British MI6 officer is still in hiding. The freakin' AG was just caught lying to the Senate. Trump has bent over backwards being chummy to Putin for months! Numerous agencies are all reporting ties, lots of them, and that they run deep. This isn't a "witch hunt;" it's an investigation and probably will lead to a full unraveling of this criminal regime. Sessions could be on his way to serve time. Why do you suppose he lied?

(2,124 posts)The Russian intelligence probably coordinated the hack of the Clinton campaign with Trumps lackeys. They probably also discussed how best to use the information gained.
anneboleyn
(5,626 posts)At this point the lack of an aggressive investigation into Trump (except for whatever the FBI is up to) is ridiculous, his ass should be in front of the senate answering questions, and the fact is that we have an ABUNDANCE of evidence -- meetings b/n virtually every high level of Trumper and Russians. Seriously, think about it -- we are talking about TREASON. Fuckheads like Newt Gingrich etc tried to bring down the gov. over Clinton lying about Lewinsky. Hell, this makes Watergate look tame. Nixon wasn't selling us out to a foreign adversary.
Frankly I think some people haven't grasped how very, very, very serious this crisis is -- we have a presidential candidate, now president, whose team met actively with Russians during the campaign WHILE RUSSIA WAS RELEASING DAMAGING INFO ON CLINTON.

(10,173 posts)to persecute someone.
Dems don't have that, Republicans are closing off avenues to a transparent investigation of the Trump-Russian connection.
Dems wouldn't have questions if there wasn't obstruction from the White House.
Dems wouldn't have questions if Trump had released his tax returns.
In all polling I've seen, most people want this resolved and the GOP are trying to throw a wench in the works for the sake of political expediency.
Further, if the Press, Dems and others hadn't applied so much pressure, Flynn would still be in the White House.

(13,133 posts)Me kind of thinks that since I could ever remember we as a society have had it drilled into our heads as the general public goes, about being cautious about or dealing with anything that had Soviet or Moscow associated with it. So really are you sure that you are in the correct company when you are spewing this noise about being carefull.
Seems to me that us people with Democratic leanings have been careful for since forever. Then again, perhaps you are still worried about hurting somebodies feelings. Well, that is the kind of thing that happens when people need to be questioned or detained by law enforcement, so get over it. If you cannot take people reacting to the news perhaps you should read a book or watch some movies to disconnect you from your worries and relax a little.
