‘Those darn phones are expensive’: Fox News helps GOP rep. save face after comparing health care to iPhones

A republican lawmaker headed over to Fox News to walk back his widely criticized comparison of iPhones and health care.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) told CNN’s “New Day” that purchasing health care was a matter of personal responsibility, which he argued should not require government intervention.

“Maybe, rather than getting that new iPhone that they just love and want to go spend hundreds of dollars on, maybe they should invest in their own health care,” Chaffetz said Tuesday morning

My entire body trembles in rage and anger when I see or hear any republican speak, especially this filthy prick.

You are taking my tax dollars to destroy my country and withold healthcare from me and my family. I just wish the idiots who vote for you would wake the god damn fuck up.

My current status and that for the rest of my life is atheist, though I dont see why it is necessary to have a term for not believing in something, I dont believe in lots of things.

What I can assure everyone of is Jesus the man, if he existed, did very little judging and lots of helping (well I cant assure actually, just common sense). Those pesky apostles who later wrote about him are full of nonsensical judgment, but my memory is not so much from the actual guy.

If he lived at all, i doubt anything the big 4 wrote about him was true, and possibly nothing I believe about him either.

But the point isnt any of that, the point is IF you believe him, you cant and be a republican, not possible.

about anybody else.

I wish people would get it through their heads, what makes you a republican is among other things like racism, greed and lack of personal responsibility.

Nothing less responsible than locking the door behind you, advocating for people to not be cared for, etc.

cell phone or health care.

All you black, brown, and other non-white people you can't have a cell phone and affordable health insurance too. Make your choice! Only the rich can have both.

God, I wish we were at the point where everybody making under $200,000/yr would turn in their cell phones and cancel their contracts when they are up.

Well done, Rep. Chaffetz; Utah must be so proud of you!

By the way, smart phones are becoming as much a necessity of life as other "luxuries" like refrigerators, microwave ovens, and high definition televisions. Yes, our pioneer ancestors who tamed the continent didn't have these fancy-pants gadgets, but we're living in a much different world today.

That attitude changes the INSTANT they lose their job. But until they do, they will advocate for death.
