Been trying not to ask here for a while but still can't figure it out.
Help!
I save photo and then go to imgur. Download photo, then copy link as bb code and then I copy link here.

(46,155 posts)(That's why Frogg's tip works. You upload the pic to Imgur or photobucket. Then you post a link here at DU to the picture that resides on Imgur or photobucket's Server)
If you want to post a link to an article, just copy the link from Safari, and paste the link into your DU post.
BTW this isn't an "IPad" thing, it is just the way the admins set up DU (no user pictures on DU server)

(12,132 posts)but I don't use iStuff so the terminology may be different:
IF you have a picture saved to your device you can upload it to an image sharing site like tinypic.com or imageshack or photobucket and the sharing site will give you hyperlink to share it here - they will give you several options but for here you can just copy the link to the direct image for layouts and paste it in a post here. DU software will parse the link correctly so you don't need to add your own BBCodes or anything - it will start with http://..... and end in image file name .jpg or .gif or .png - depending what type of image file it is. There are probably others I'm forgetting but those are the big 3.
Alternately if you see an image on a website you can just copy the link to the image and paste it in a post here. BUT you must make sure you copy the link to the image and not a link to the page that has the image on it - In windows I would right click on the image and open it in a new tab and see if the URL ends in one of the image file extensions listed above. IF it does, I can copy and paste it here BUT that is considered "hot-linking" and there are some sites that won't let you do that. It either won't work at all or you might get their warning message that hot-linking is not allowed. The image sharing sites are letting you hot-link so it works and is the safest way to do it.
