On an amendment by Rep DeGette D CO on funding of reproductive rights and women's health care (Planned Parenthood.)
ALL the Republicans are voting NO. 23 ayes, 31 noes, amendment failed.
It's 2:30 am there.
Frikken astonishing.
Listening to Rep. Kennedy I can hear his heartfelt anguish at the inexplicable inhumanity and abdication of their duty to the women they represent. If they won't fund this care, and instead suggest women go to community clinics that are already operating far beyond capacity, then where in the hell are these women going to get their health care?
If the GD 42% of Americans that sat the election out had gotten off their spoiled asses and voted, we would not be witnessing this travesty.

Breaking my heart.
The next amendment failed by the same vote tally. We have GOT to get out the vote at the midterms.

I have worked as hard as I can the last three years, four now, since Wendy's filibuster in Texas. I'm going to die trying to get this sh*t straightened out. I'd really like to see the ERA RATIFIED, in my lifetime. We've come too far to turn back now.

(19,566 posts)It's hurting my heart, but it's a sad part of our history I thought I should make myself witness.
Our Dems are articulate and smart. It's really sad to me how that no no longer holds any political weight.
