I'm good at Twitter. I've done some research on what works and what doesn't.

Honestly, DU is one of the main sites I use to find the articles I want to distribute to my followers.

Reddit, Rawstory, MediaMatters, TruthOut, MSNBC, a few other forum sites I like. I'm an infomaniac and this is an info war (no credit to wing nut in chief, Alex Jones). I know what info I want out there, and I know what people will retweet, so I mostly just post that stuff.

There is an audience on Twitter that is hungry for reliably-sourced news. I'm trying to provide that for them.

or they call it "handle"

Everyone's handle is prefixed by an "@" sign

@realdonaldtrump is dipshit's handle.

Think of it like an email address.

Let's just say you only love one person/entity. You can search for their
handle. Let's just say it's @cnn. So, you search for @cnn, click on it
and then hit the "follow" button.

You are done.

Every day when you sign on to twitter you will get a feed of every tweet
cnn posted (namely all the news).

Typically, though, we have lots of people we want to hear "the latest" from.
You simple search for them and follow them, and then they will be in
your feed. @huffingtonpost, for example

People can also follow you. they will then see everything you post
as well. You can click on tweet and just say "good morning" or whatever
and everyone who is following you will see that.

Retweets are when you read something you like - from any source (it's a button)
and you want all your followers to read it too. You retweet and it will show in
all you followers feed.

If you post a cute pic of a cat you might put #cats and #animals in your post so that cat and animal lovers can more easily find your cute picture of a cat when they search those hashtags.

is happening #marchmadness. If you want to know what EVERYONE is saying about march madness, you search by #marchmadness and all the posts about the subject will appear if people put #marchmadness in their tweet.

it's kind of a way to unite subject across all people.

the thing is, it's hard to know what everyone is naming that subject precisely. You could search for say #march and see what the options are to find basketball. If it's a huge event that everyone is talking about - you can look to the left - which is the trend of the biggest topics of the moment. To get everyone to use the exact same hashtag is very difficult - there may be many slightly different spelling
