Amazing. I drove from Raleigh to Asheville today - listened to NPR much of the drive

On Point, The World, Here and Now. four hours.

Essentially unanimous. Anything to do with Trump and his cabal - his decisions, his behavior, those who called in - all taken aback, amazed, clearly using term "liar". Talking about how the truth doesn't matter to this bunch - really dug in to the climate change denial. Talked about the harm this will do. The media people on the show, the hosts - totally unanimous.

So after 4 hours of this (and feeling quite depressed when I got to my destination), one question kept repeating.

What the hell do we do? Who will step up, divulge what must be known, be the hero - put aside party - do it for humanity? Has our species declined so much, has such narcissism totally taken over, that this can be allowed to stand?

It is a party issue because no one outside the party has the Democratic following to effective lead. Bernie isn't the answer because he's apparently too good to join the party that he evidently wants to lead.

So we have no leader.

I don't see one out there

the KGOP is nothing but a collection of craven, venal, hypocritical cowards, who care only for the power they've accrued and live in fear of being torn apart by the brown shirts who've taken over what was once the party of Lincoln, and turned it into the party of Mussolini.

if you're thinking, maybe, McCain. he's one of the most craven of the lot. he turned in his own senate compatriots (secret testimony over the LFSL scandal, anyone?), and lord knows what happened in VN (give him a break on that one for lack of hard evidence). and just ask his first wife what a fine man she thinks of him, how he treated her when he got home and saw how she looked after a near fatal car crash.

they're all the lowest of the low. til one proves different, that's the way it stands

a veteran IT manager being interviewed about Clinton's server. He was so convincing.
He said until hacking became a common word, everyone just came to work and did
their job - they didn't worry about anything behind the scenes - it was all too complicated.
They just relied on the IT gurus. He said the mistake people are making today is that
they are looking at the whole thing through 2016 eyes. She set it up 2009-early 2010.

To answer your question, think it is we who have to lead. As long as there is job growth and the stock market keeps rising, our only hope to getting rid of him is probably a clear cut case of collusion. Enough to pull 1/2 of the Republicans away from him.

anywhere else on the dial you'd have heard limbaugh and sons making excuses for trump and blaming obama and the democrats.

liberals ignore it so they've had a free speech free ride to lie at will repeatedly for 30 years. so now we have trump. talk radio is thte only major medium- political talk radio- with no political counterpart. ignoring it has beeen the biggest political mistake in history and now we have a talk radio president, with fox putting on the visual icing.

worse than that, we let 88 + major universities endorse 257 + limbaugh stations.

NORTH CAROLINA 16 North Carolina 8, North Carolina State 3, Duke 3, East Carolina 2

they support 16 limbaugh stations - all of them helping trump, republicans repeat obamacare, gop deny global warming, devos defund and privatize public ed, and keep transgender folk out of the bathroom.

see how fast the gop/trump falls apart when liberals stop ignoring rw radio. protest those unis until they declare they will look for apolitical alternatives. gop will freak out with even a discussion of it, media will notice, and advertisers will flee. without talk radio trump/gop has nothing

And I heard the same kinds of things--people talking about how he's unstable and unpredictable so matter-of-factly.

I don't remember reporters even implying anything about Bush 43's lack of intellectual curiosity, for example; it certainly wasn't talked about as a given. The closest thing I can think of to the way they were talking about Trump is the way everybody simply knows that Bill Clinton is a horndog without even pretending to skirt the issue.

At this point in time, no republican is going to act for the good of the country. This is their big chance to pull off atrocities that they've been wanting to carry out for years. Listening to NPR now, and they're saying that Trump may commit impeachable offensives, but the repugs will let it slide because it's more important to them to be the party in power than anything else.

On a brighter note, blue Colorado has one of our senators, Cory Gardener(R) on the run. He has done and said a lot of wildly unpopular things here and refuses to show his face at a town hall because he's a coward, obviously afraid of his constituents. His seat is up for grabs in the 2018 midterms and I think we may have a very good chance of replacing him with a dem candidate. If there are just a few more states with enough angry voters, we may have a chance of taking back the senate. (fingers crossed)

And as for NPR..... someone fucking remind them they consistently spun their reporting on President Obama in hostile tones---questioning his decisions, or just ignoring him while fawning over pukes. Like, for a specific example, Obama v rMoney campaign time sound familiar?

They don't get to sound surprised now. Or they shouldn't, if they practiced integrity.
